Default Quick ratio steering

I am looking for options to convert my loose 4 turns LTL power steering box on my 65 GTO. Are there any lower cost options out there. I see new boxes for $500+ but would like something less if I can. Does the Monte Carlo SS from the 80's fit other than a new rag joint and fitting inserts. All boxes have stops built in, and in different places. Camaro and Firebird boxes I think fit but have stops preventing it from working on a A body. I am looking for 12.7 to 1 ratio. Some sellers advertise LTL but depending where the stops are that number don't help. Any options appreciated.

I had Carhex do mine a few years ago. Converted my box and sent it back in 6 days .... although i did glass bead mine before i sent it to him and requested the he not paint it. Back then he was charging $180. Get his phone number off of this link and call him to see what he is charging these days. I initally found him though ebay, but his listing right now is showing $599 due to a lack of cores. I will say it works well, 3 turns LTL, no leaks, and i got my original box back. https://www.facebook.com/carhex1/

I had a box out of a 76 Trans Am and it had the same stops. Use your original pitman arm an 85 Chevy 1/2 ton rag joint.

Borgeson, here is their site...

This is the deal from Jegs...

But more info on Summit's site (see reviews/Q&A)...

Also Ridetech seems to really like it. Do a search on their site or on protouring.com...hope it helps you make a decision.

Another Jeep GC box user here. It's the most inexpensive way to get quicker steering on an A-body.

I bought a Lares 10:1 box and a new Lares power steering pump from Rock Auto. Manufactured in MN. Would have like to have just ordered direct, but it was much cheaper to go through Rock Auto (they actually told me to go there).

Total cost was $500 for both and that included a $75.00 core charge for the box which I got back.

Do you have part numbers for your order. I would like to look at that.

Thread revival time! How do you like the 10:1 box? Do you do autocross?

I like the box, but don't autocross. Just like driving windy twisty roads....

About 20 years ago I had Tom Lee in California build me one of his steering boxes.
Very, very nice P/s Box and well worth the money he charged at the time.

https://leepowersteering.com/

Phone: 661-568-9170 or Fax: 661-885-8185

He had built boxes for all of the big name racers.

X 2 with Lee Steering. They've rebuilt and upgraded three boxes for me over the years. Excellent work and great communication during the process.

Tom retired in 2015 but Allan Padelford continues with the business and have heard nothing but good about their continuing service.

When I needed a power steering box for the Catalina wagon a couple years ago I called them but at that time they were too far out for me. I ended up going with a new 10:1 Lares box from Rock Auto that had the best price. I never noticed the somewhat quicker 12:1 steering box I put in the GTO probably because it was so close to the ratio in the daily driver. I do notice the really quick box in the wagon but like it.

I bought a box from Advance Auto Parts for a Z28 Camaro. Ratio is great, pipe sizes are the same as OEM, but the stops have limited my turning radius. I wish I had the old box back.
