Without a doubt this one owner ‘65 is special!

As I mentioned, it does have some rust issues being from Illinois with 90K miles.

I have some old photos of this car in my files and it must have had a patch panel installed on the lower LH fender.
The trunk weatherstripping is toast, so I’m sure the rest of the rubber is suffering.

That is all minor issues compared to this fantastic Survivor.
I’d love to own this car.

I never get tired of seeing original condition cars like these. No wonder they sold so well, in the day!!!

These cars were automotive icons!!! No wonder the muscle car Era caught fire at this time!!!

The original owner resided in Illinois at the time he purchased the car, as well as during his later years. The car may have spent some time in Michigan as well. He resided there in 1997, and perhaps for some years before and after.

They said they used a dry ice treatment on the underside for the sale; it does amazing things!

Nice to see all the appreciation shown here for a car like this one. I feel lucky to have found one similar.

Jeez that original SS paint just always looks nicer than BC/CC to me. Just looks more defined, or distinct than BC/CC. Probably has something to do with the reflections being first surface rather than coming from deeper down.

My guess would have been 15-20k less than where it is now.
So its all beyond my thought process.
The seller has done practically EVERYTHING Right involving its sale and will be rewarded handsomely.

In 1965 , the whole Pontiac Line-Up was awarded with Car of the Year
It was a good year then, and now.

I agree.
My guesstamation was around 55-65K because of the 90,000+ miles and rust issues.

Motor Trend, that is.

oooooh , now that's a classy touch right there.
Prolly could punch up the bids an extra 5k on BaT with one of those jewels.

That 65 Dark Teal 3x2 4spd 3.90 car from back then got re-sold while it was all apart being frame off'd.
It got stalled and the son-in-law lost his steam.
i wish they would have left it as-was and made it a driver\warrior

I’m assuming this ‘65 is what you are referring to?

I also agree that it has already exceeded what I expected it to sell for. The fact that so few of these survivor cars come up for sale does cause excitement, especially with good colors, options and original purchase doc's.

Motor Trend Decal :

Just about has to be same car - I guess ( . )
I can't access my files on a frozen laptop to verify.
But it had that decal , and spawned the remake of it.

Seller was a PY member in Kentucky
Father-in-law of buyer was PY member in NC , 1oldgoat or oldgoat1
Seller also had a well kept Black 68 RamAir1 GTO that the father-in-law bought.
If any of that ties anything together ?

Don't want to say yes , if the answer is no. lol

Not trying to criticize or anything,- just curious, but the engine pic shows the fuel lines to the carb with a fitting joining the lines halfway between what appears to be a filterat the front of the block, and the carb. Is this a variation of a factory setup, or is it custom made? Neatly done in any case.

Fuel line :
Its custom made , and neatly installed.
Believe its a pressure regulator

Can also tell the owner wasn't a smoker by how he installed the ammeter gauge on the ashtray.

Yes
I didn't remember the dual stripes or late late build date.
Maybe it will show up again here some day with its fresh frame-off resto.

With the front seats recovered backwards so the pleats face the A pillars instead of the shifter. Like 80% of the restored '65's I see.

80% of restored 65s have trips as well. Coincidence?

lmao

At one time PUI even made a run of defective rear seat covers with slants in the wrong direction. Maybe to match up for the cars with reversed front covers.
