Actually I was saying, since the color was new, it may have diverted because of that. Probably happened on the first few. And like I said earlier, striping color was not called out on build sheet and may have been diverted because of that too.
The delay in shipping may be because of final location or a delay from the line or QC.

Yes , I agree with those sentiments regarding this one car in particular.
But not something that would have pulled a car from the assembly line.
Since ByPass Code 2 is printed before a build starts - on the Bsheet .

Here is what I am looking at - as an overall explanation of ByPass Code 2
"From what I've been led to believe Bypass Code 2 means it was pulled from the line at some point."

I don't agree with that - yet.
And its not something you constructed , it was hand-me-down info of past.
Think it needs looking at closer and maybe re-worded.

So when i got my car in 1984, it came from my dad's good friend. The other day i got to thinking "i wonder if he is still alive?" The story is he got the car because he was working on it, the owner didn't have the money to pay the bill, nor fix what was wrong, so he gave him the car for payment for labor. My dad passed 5 years ago, and i moved away 15 years ago. I decided to look him up and give him a call. When i went to pick the car up he told me i had to wait a couple days because he took the rear end out and had to put a different one in it. He wanted to keep it for his chevelle. I didn't really know the significance of the judge at that time. I just thought they were cool. So anyway, i called him and we chatted for a while and got the story he had. I asked him if he happened to still have the rear end. No dice. He indeed put it in the chevelle, and then sold that car 10-12 years ago. Then he told me he thinks he still has the engine!! Turns out the crank had a crack in it, and he intended to sell the engine to recoup the payment. He told me he was contacted buy some guy the next town over that wanted the "big valve" heads and "factory cast iron headers". He even remembered the guy was to give him $1500 for them, but never came. He doesn't remember at all what happened with the trans unfortunately. It was a bit sad because the last time i saw him i was 18-19 years old (I'm 52 now) and he sounded like a 90 year old man. I'm beyond excited though. He is going to look and see if he can find the engine and will give me a call back in a few days. All my fingers are crossed!

Thank you sir!
On a side note, is there somewhere on the build sheet that notates the blackout on the hood scoops? Mine has been repainted and i haven't started stripping them yet to see if the black was there before.

All the 70 Judges had Black hood scoops.
I don't think anything on the Bsheet will specify the scoop color though.

Ok. I have seen some without black so they were just incorrect.

Success! The previous owner found the block, crank (which is cracked), heads, exhaust manifolds, and rods and pistons. He wasn't able to find the cam/lifters, intake, carb, or distributor. I'm beyond happy! Even agreed to give them to me, I just have to make the 1200 mile drive.

Well worth the drive and fuel cost to reunite the original engine with your Judge!
Would want to schedule that as soon as possible.

Definitely. I talked to a good friend of mine back home that offered to go get it and store it until I can make the trip. The guy that has the engine has to be in his late 70's, so I don't want to mess around long!

How do you guys preserve your build sheets. I have mine in a folder but I didn't know if you maybe laminated them or something to keep them nice forever?

Laminate build sheet. It protects it and you can handle it without damaging it.

I have many that have been found in cars, on gas tanks, etc. and that the best way i have found to preserve it.

I just looked at your trim tag and noticed the 06 paint code. I posted a Pontiac document her on PY about the change from 60 to 06. Check it out or I could send it to you email or text if you want. PM me if interested in that document.

So am I reading that correctly that the change came January 30? Also I'm not real sure what all that means, but does anyone know why the change was made?
I've been trying to do some searching, being a 4th week November car, it has to be one of the first handful of OO Judges produced. Not that it particularly matters, I just find it interesting.

The OO paint was for the Judge only at 1st.

The Jan date is possibly when they changed the '06' code to '60' code that was then made available for all GTO's.

The alpha code 'T' stayed the same. (used on the PHS for example)

I had the bulletin for when it changed, but can't find it right now.
It could be on PY somewhere, I have posted it before I think.
Also posted the bulletin for when the 'OO' became available on the Judge.

Curious to know what part of Iowa you were in and where your car came from.
