Fuel tank vapor lock maybe, try opening cap if it doesn't start again and see if that helps. I got a remote tank filter setup and after a fill up sometimes it'll spit a tad out the filter if I do say 30 minutes on a hot day, damn.

Doe the engine turn over properly? New starter but the cables could be bad causing hot issue and slow crank?
Distributor advance seized in the advanced position making it hard to turn over when hot? Give us some more info to try and make
a better diagnosis. Engine size, Battery size. Stock engine? Turn over find but won't fire?

i did notice the cables do get hot. it is a stock 400 with no mods. it cranks maybe three times then nothing. i took the car today to have new mufflers put on and i told the guy not to shut it off until on lift. he called me like twenty minutes later after testing the system and said i had a bad battery so off to get new battery. the battery i tried before was fully charged out of my truck and did the same exact thing.so for 65 bucks i'll get a reconditioned battery. purchased many batteries from this place so they are good.

Cable connections are one of the last things people check. Remember there are TWO ends of each cable. Often times it is the engine end that is either dirty or has paint under it.

So it was loose cable, corroded cable, bad cable ground or just a low amp cell battery?

Good to hear, not too financially damaging either.

Cables and connectors are usually the sleeping devil right in your face.
