Also, it came from Don Davis, Pontiac, just outside of Buffalo, which also sold several 73 Super Duty Trans Ams, which a couple are stored outback here

Maybe my info is obsolete now.

Strong money considering many modest issues. Thought the under body & chassis looked as well restored as about any early T/A that's been on the Circus Site.

Todd, not all of us are 15x7 HC wheel fans. TOO d#mn HEAVY. 15x7 HC's can flat make a '71 or '72 T/A CLUNKY looking.

Personally like seeing 15x7 HC's on "some" Lucerne blue cars, more so than on 71-72 white T/A's There is just more contrast. Am very glad my '72 has its date matched set of 2/28 KR's.

Figured there had to be something more to that.
Thanks for the clarification .

Did some more looking and the seat covers and door panels are both repop replacements.
Not actual comfort weave.
More like niblet nubs , not actual weaving.
I can zoom in on this picture with my tablet.

And a good shot showing how the 70-71 upper grille mount bosses don't align with the 73 bumper brace mounting holes.

They turn hazy - and yellowy - with age and exposure.
Can get down right horrible looking.

If a guy tries to take a little mild rubbing compound to one - as soon as it "appears" you have made an improvement - you have actually gone through the coating and the swirl is now smooth or very compromised.

I tried it on a bent up later model bezel years ago , for experiment. fail

Nowadays they say oven cleaner gets the old coating off , then carefully clean and clear coat.
I would start with a junker to practice first.
Believe Randy Combs is the name I have seen associated with restoring them.
He gets it done right

So plain old lacquer thinner won't get the job done?

I don't know .
A guy could try it - just ALWAYS start with a junker to experiment.

The swirl pattern is delicate , the less rubbing motion used , the safer the bet will be.

Agree with you on the cobbled up disaster of the sectioned early grilles in the '73 endura nose.

On the DLX seats, I've had two complete sets of 100% original '70 Firebird BLACK DLX seats that the "comfortweaave" material was embossed just like in the pic. Kept partial covers from that first BLACK DLX set, pulled from a 70 Formula partscar in the early 90's. Bought the car for an NOS 1/4 that had been tacked on the left side, every thing else on the car was gravy. Was a VN build with Cali blue/yellow plates. Have the plates up in the shop. The second '70 BLACK DLX set were out of a '70 Esorit that I drove several hours in the late 90's to buy a bunch of parts from. Have also had 2 pair of original ''70 SANDALWOOD Firebiird buckets which were of the embossed "fake" comfortweave style. Am 100% these were original, there were some sort of black stamped numbers on the back sides of these original covers.

Roger you are almost right , and I am almost wrong.

But the covers and door panels in that 70 are repops.

Just found a brown 71 deluxe door panel remnant I meant to throw away years ago.
Will post some close ups soon.
The real stuff is faker than I thought I remembered , but its not as fake as the pieces on this car.

The owner posted some pictures where the shifter comes through the tunnel. That looks plastic? Is that a common repair piece. Looks odd to me. I haven't seen that.

Looks to me to be the cut down (up?) remnant of the lower rubber shift boot.

Ahh, that could be. Maybe just rubber from a boot and not some thick plastic piece. Just looked odd.

John
