Thumbs up !!! NEW BEST IN THE HEAT!!!

We'll The weather was very simliar as it was two races ago with todays being worse!..On a fairly fresh track maybe 50-75 cars down it, the car goes 11.87@113.20!!! with a 1.70 60 foot! , and a 7.55 1/8th mile @ 91.03 mph.Sorry for the swearing my bro was happy, lol . Two races ago was 12.15@111.51. After that the track went to crap and i started unloading the tires after 4-5 feet out everytime except one more where it went11.91@133.33 at 1 pm!.. then at 3.30 in the HEAT it goes 12.05 spinning with a 1.78 60 foot still, that DA WAS over 3800 FEET!!.If it would have hooked and went 1.70 like in the morning would have been a 11.89 at that ALTITUDE! THAT CORRECTS to 11.33@118!! So the convertor absolutley ROCKS!.. I tried stiffing the back didn't work, tried softening didn't work, then i tried 16 psi in tires still didn't work usually run 19 psi. Now was it the bad track or is my front coming up to quick and unloading the rear again? cause everytime its 4-5 feet then it spins them! it hits hard and grabs ,but right after it lights them up, that was from two guys watching the tires for me.

Nice! Keep the rear about 50/50 and slow the front end down a bit or try limiting front travel or possibly both.

Yeah, what he said.... you dont have enough forward footprint on the ground... width not as important as height when you makin the torque you are while tryin to move such a heavy car.... im doin 1.59 60's with a 9x28.5 Pheonix tire... 50/50 rear shocks, 80/20 fronts...solid rear bushings and boxed control arms in the '62...also...upper mounting points have been moved up bout 3'' or so...

Good to hear she makin some power!!!

Thanks Guys! I just watched it in slow motion.. it isn't the tires it is the front end come up too quick and topping out , then it comes back down and that is when it is unloading the tires... I was not the only one spinning my bro went from 1.60 to 1,67, He runs a brake with a 5200 stall and 26" slicks too and other cars were spinning too.. I think I will go to my 60/40 setting from the 80/20 i am at now and leave the back at 8 clicks.. Samething happened when i went to this new setup two years ago when it was 90/10 too much lift too quick slowed it down and it rocked, and get a good track next sunday cause it will be a bracket day with much better prep and cooler!..

Great time! Get a chance to check the flash? My car lifts and back down quickly and will spin a few feet out if I have too much air in the 28" dot tires. I unhooked one side of the swaybar to try to make the lift last longer, not sure if that did anything. Once again, super job. Also, last year I had 30" slicks and no problem hooking up.

,Tom
On the runs that it hooked i didn't lol...but the ones that it unloaded it was around 4400 so i am guessing it was very close to 4-4200, on that 87 run it went thru at 53-5400 is all!! cliff was right it flashes quickly! i brought it up to 28-3000 on the foot brake then flashed from there.very tight on top!

you might need to dial in a couple more degrees of pinion angle in your car...it will help to keep rear tires planted... and your front end up

Congrats. On your way to needing a roll bar!!

Can you tighten the front shocks?

Not sure if you want to go to a taller tire just yet. That could cause the coverter to slip more on the top end and you could lose mph.

Pinion angle may help as suggested as well.

Yes I can and i will be going to the 60/40 setting, but i am telling u guys the track sucked today also. The thing with this car its not of the norm ,lol so not alot of stuff available to change stuff like that. Will not be changing tires at this time, plus i would loose all my gear multiplication cause i can't go any deeper in gear, none made unless i go to whole mod r/e. and not doing that either too much money!

Congrats Darby.

Sounds like you might wanna look into some AFCO BNC double adjustables up front, those shocks are made especially for big heavy cars like yours.

Darby I love the way it runs. Great job. By chance have you tried an air bag in the RR spring only? I'm not sure if it would work as well in your car as it does in an A-body but may help keep the RR tire loaded more and may help traction farther out.

Alan, I have air bags in both and set at 6 on drivers side and 15 on pass.. anymore and it gets to bouncy not letting the shocks do their thing.

Dick
Its just a regular bracket day and track prep is much better!, plus they had a track rental up here on saturday and I am sure there was alot of street cars there I heard like 80 cars.. I just know from racing here it will be night and day difference, Yep I agree on shocks u can plainly see it in slow mo the car comes up and comes up fast then it tops out and comes back down and that is when it spins.

Very impressive times, especially for a vehicle that is more than 2 tons in weight! 11.87 with 4600lbs? Awesome man!

I had my hands full keeping it straight with mine for the first 200ft on Saturday too Darby - similar weather I think. It was hooking at the line but slipping around a bit thereafter. At BIR I can drive it with 1 finger on the wheel... Gotta love The Rock!
