Default "Yellowstone"

The TV series. Any watchers? Seems as if most everyone is bad, but I guess, they, the locals, are all rightfully protecting their own interests as they see it. Wow! Captivating and addicting. Kind of reminds me of the old "Dallas" TV shows, only much more...adult oriented...

We binged the previous episodes earlier this year and don't miss a one now. It's one of the very, very few shows worth watching.

Yellowstone is one of the best shows going. We can't see the new shows thanks to Comcast, but I can watch the past shows on Peacock, or if I'm lucky I grab the season sets of DVDs when I can. You could say Yellow stone is an addiction.

Are all of the F bombs really necessary? That's my only gripe. Way too much foul language. Most decent people do not speak in that manner.

Just because a person cusses doesn't mean they aren't decent. People that don't cuss are the ones to watch out for. Most are fake and choose their words too carefully.. Just a personal observation. Have a nice day.

So, those who choose to be religious and do not choose to use Anglo-Saxon words are fake?

I cuss, but not every other word.. That seems to be the norm for a majority of the characters in that show.

Have often found that people who have problem with words fill in the blanks with something easy. The smaller the vocabulary the more blanks need filling.
The HBO show "Doom Patrol" is particularly annoying where it isn't just funny. (Sometimes wonder what the script writers are smoking).

There are other words to express simple annoyance and personally reserve more powerful words for real need.

My father, gone since 1984, always said using profanity was a sign of a limited vocabulary.

I've worked in manufacturing most of my life. Cussing too much is an easy trap to get caught in. I'm guilty. I have to work on reducing it at times. Makes you sound like a moron if used to excess. I don't judge either way. When I work on cars I say things that would make a sailor blush!

I don't really care that much. Sure, people can curse too much (or at inappropriate times/places), and I agree it is often overdone in entertainment. I'm highly educated, I have a pretty decent vocabulary and I curse a fair amount, but never around people I don't know very well or in public settings. If you search the internet you can find studies that seem to indicate people of higher education, vocabulary and even honesty tend to curse more. I don't know if any of that is true. Don't really care.

we recently started watching this on Amazon;
It seems fine and for now we're hooked, but what's with all the 'dark' shows these days?

I am in the camp of preferring to watch shows with clean language;
I believe that keeping a clean vocabulary has nothing to do with being fake - moreover it has to do with a lack of respect for others, and as '61-63' put it: "a sign of a limited vocabulary".
No body is perfect, but I believe that to a point, your language is also a reflection of your heart.
... and it seems that all shows contain a predetermined allotment of profanity and sexy-time scenes (be it just nudity or what ever).

We're about half way into the first "season" (because really why are seasons capping out at 10-12 episodes now!?);
The teacher just went to the hospital - we may have stayed up a bit late last night because we didn't want to call it a night not knowing if she passed (the one episode ends with her son yelling, the camera panning out, with her pouring blood on the concrete... yikes.

We have found that too many shows get increasing dark in nature, and we just stop watching them after a bit - time will tell if this one falls into that camp...

I have a feeling that we're going to be watching alot more shows from decades bygone on dvd in the years to come, because it is getting harder and harder to find an interesting 'clean' show...

I agree with the above post...too dark/depressing for me. I used to be all about the violence, cursing, etc., but not so much now. I'm more inclined to watch something uplifting or educational these days (car shows, travel, etc.) if I turn on the TV.

Doesn't shock me anymore...the real world is more unbelievable.

I prefer really good animation (think Avatar or Bolt). Reason many films are literally dark is because they don't want to spend money on details & dark backgrounds hide much.

That said I have A Lot of car movies but prefer to avoid turkeys. Start on VHS but have updated many to DVD (as mentioned want and *original* gone in 60 Seconds (Sunshine Superman) on DVD. Have several DVDs but all Denise repops with rong sound track, only *original* is on VHS.

If ever a "gone" with the origial soundtrack on DVD I would really appreciate knowing how to identify it.

Think earliest is "Speedy" (1928). Had something earlier but was so bad I didn't keep. Favorite is "A Man and a Woman". "Grand Prix" is probably the earliest really technical move but true to F1 in the 60s someone major dies.

Some of the worst in the '60s were the "Canninball" knock offs. Only really good one was Gumball Rally (early NYC sounds is great).

And then there was Sly picking up quarters...

/\ I see how you could have misinterpreted what I previously posted;
by "dark", I wasn't implying a lighting issue on how the show was filmed but rather a prevailing negative undertone on the script or story writing.

I seem to have observed that a common thread of a great deal of shows these days seems to revolve around death or calamity framed in a negative manner.
