Default Radiator fan for 66 GTO

Im looking for a radiator fan for my 66, manual trans, No AC car. My original fan is beyond repair, bent and dented. Would a standard 7 blade 19.5 inch fan from the late 60's or early 70's car work? If so, is there a particular part number that would be ideal? I would prefer to find an original GM fan as opposed to a new aftermarket fan. I will be using the original pulleys, 8 bolt water pump, but a new cold case radiator.

Thanks

If your car did not have a 7 blade fan then Ames performance engineering ( sponsors of this site) have a 7 blade 17.5” fan.
It does not seem like a 19” will fit, but I would call their tech line tomorrow to confirm that.

I believe a 7 blade 17.5” is better then a 19” five blade.

You need the taller 17.5” heavy duty radiator core to have enough room to use the 19.5” fan.

If you have the 15.5” standard radiator core you’re probably limited to about an 18” fan.

Years ago I scavenged a couple of 7 blade 19.5” clutch fans from various 1970s B and F-body cars, I’m using one on my ‘64 Le Mans with the 17.5” radiator and matching steel A/C shroud.

Thanks, Ill quit looking for a 19.5 and go back to looking for a 17.5 fan. 19.5's are probably more common, but I'm sure I'll run across a 17.5 that works.

Thanks!

Aftermarket is an option, but I would prefer original GM. Does anyone know which cars 17.5 or 18 inch fans would have come on? I have a junkyard not too far from me with a decent inventory of older cars, might be something there.

There are 2 others made by OER with different hub measurements. I think I linked the wrong one

One of these would be fine, found on frankspontiacparts.com.

Did you look at the fans that our host offers for GTO's?
I see two options in the catalog.

Yes, and that is definitely an option. I just figured I would look for OE first.

Just to revisit this quickly, my 66 GTO only has the fan guard, not a shroud. Even with just the guard, the 19.5 wont work?

Without the limitation of a shroud the 19.5” fan should work.

Even the 19.5” shroud can be notched at the bottom to clear the bottom hose and transmission lines.
