Default How to remove 65 GTO convertible trim

Can someone explain how to remove the trim that surrounds the convertible top? There are 3 on each side that run along the door and rear quarter glass and one along the back window (7). I have the trim removal tools from HF and have removed my 70 Chevelle front windshield trim but never the GTO. -Thanks

That tool is useless for removing the belt molding trim . If you don't own a 1965 (or even a 64) Fisher body manual, invest in one. From memory, my 65 stainless side moldings were held by screws and requires removal of the vent window assembly. The top surround moldings were either snapped over retainer clips or pushed over the pinch weld. I'm reaching back to 1983 on that memory.

For the 3 pieces that surround the convertible top well, there are approximately 16 of these clips that slide over the pinch weld. And the side pieces also have a screw at the forward end.
If I recall, I just carefully pulled the trim straight off.

Thanks for the feedback. I think my friend has the Fisher manual and the correct removal tool. The clip pic and explanation help as well. My buddy got a quote of 1200 to polish his 55 Chevy trim, but decided to do it himself and the results look excellent, so I'd like to give it a shot.
