Default 74 GTO engine

One of our club members approached me at the meeting tonight about an engine he has had for awhile and asked me to find out what it was out of and what it might be worth. The 350 engine has a cast date of F043 and a block code of WD. So I crossed it to a 74 GTO engine manufactured on June 4, 1973 for a 1974 production year manual trans car. The #46 heads are dated D193 and E213 which struck me as an awful early cast date for next year's engine.

This is all I know about the engine at this time. If there is any interest I can get additional details. Engine is located in Riverside, CA (SoCal). I haven't seen it, but I can ask him to email me pics to post if there is any interest.

My books tell me that this is a 1973 model year, 49-state, 350 2bbl from an A or F-body. I can't find a WD code for '74.

I have a 74 GTO block (manual transmission) with a code WP. Maybe the D is really a P?

I double checked McCarthy's book and I guess I read the listed WP as the WD I was looking for. I'll ask that he look at the block again.
