Default 71 GTO Console- Needs recovered Need Tips

I have a 71 GTO console that needs recovered in black Vinyl. I took off the old vinyl but can find the replacement vinyl. I have found thicker vinyl that would need stitching to stay affixed.

Anyone every recover one of these and what material did you use to replicate the factory vinyl.
Thx
Matt

If its a '69-72 GTO/LeMans Sport automatic console, shouldn't be that hard to find another that's not split, chipped, had holes cut in it. Had my issues over the years with Just Dashes puffy dashpads, thankfully only have one auto console project & its console is perfect.

On the other hand, nice soft undamaged '68-72 Manual trans consoles, they've been tough for many years.
