Yes,do it.
Go to my website and look at the cars I restore. It is correct, exactly how Fisher body did it. www.purestockauto.com

Black to the pinch welds . Even though over spray might be correct to me it looks like crap . I'm not a concourse guy , I can appreciate it but I'm not that guy .

Since you are planning to sell its better for it to be correct with the light overspray - thus enabling a buyer to show it at a GTO convention and get more points. It seems unlikely any potential buyers would see the overspray as a negative but some potential buyers could see lack of overspray as a negative.

idunno what the ratio would be on preference
Will say i'll never do it on a car i own - its crappy no matter how you look at it. Do they really deduct points for not overspraying everything ? Thinner color coverage on the flat bottom of rockers ? On a car this color it would show up in the rear wheel wells too - ugh You'd need to make a color blend up on the cowl Dont forget to blow some on the underside of the hood too pfffft Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 06-01-2018 at 12:58 AM. |

As extensive of a restoration as you are doing I vote for the overspray where it was originally.

Not a fan of overspray or chalk marks but it's your car, which is looking great btw. I am not a concours guy, obviously.

Needed to update my post on the Judge progress. I really wanted to have this project done by now but there always seems to be other things that get put ahead of this.
Its getting closer as I have the drivetrain installed and the body back on the frame for the final time. I also decided to do the overspray on the floors. I tried to replicate the original overspray that I found under the undercoat that was applied at the dealership when new. It had much lighter overspray than some of the ones I have seen online or at shows. Just enough to notice but doesnt look sloppy imho? I have all the pedals/ heater box etc all mounted on firewall and just need to go over the dash assembly/wiring / gauges and such before I reinstall. Once the motor is fired and all good it should go back together pretty quick. Brent |

nice I love that color. so did you put the fenders on and apply the stripes and then take them back off or how did you get them to align up

Yes I had the fenders mounted to mock up the endura bumper and did the stripes then. I took them back off until we fire the motor and everythings good . Much easier not leaning over them to work in engine compartment

It might be a good time to consider doing the Endura blackout on the 4 mounting bumps between the valance and the bumper. Beautiful car and great colour by the way Brent!

That frame is so beautiful it’s almost a shame to cover it up with a body.

Yea i almost forgot about seeing the blackout being done on the lower endura bumps. I especially think it will look better done on this car with the lighter body color? Thanks for the reminder Gordon

Thought I would update this thread as its been a while since i done so. I had the car stored in my lower garage the last couple month while I did some other projects and finished the final prep work on the endura bumper/hood/decklid and rear spoiler.
Just painted all those parts this weekend and will hopefully get them installed in next week or so. All the interior is ready to be put in then I can have the front and rear glass installed. Then just finish a few things and hopefully finish it up. I tried to post a video of the initial motor firing up but couldnt get it to load. |
