Parking brake ratchet mechanism spring
Does anybody have a parking brake assembly out of their vehicle where they can possibly take a look and see what this spring looks like? One of the ends snapped off mine and I can’t tell if the other end was just a simple hook or if it was more of an arm that locks into something.
I hate to toss the whole parking brake mechanism as I spent some time bringing it back to life and now looks great and functions great minus the fact it can’t click in and lock unless you lift the ratchet with your finger. I don’t see a direct replacement offered but do see some for other vehicles that look like the following pic. Thanks! Last edited by Entropy11; 08-30-2022 at 01:03 PM. |

After what seems like endless searching before posting this, I believe I just came across the answer. I’ll post it here in the event this ever helps anybody in a future search.

Ok scratch that above post… that’s just the standard big “return spring”. I followed a post somewhere that showed a rough break down of the parking brake pedal mechanism and they referenced that GM number and mentioned A-Body cars.. The part shows today and it’s the standard big return spring. As a side note Firebird Central is insanely fast in regards to shipping. Lol
Does anybody have a breakdown of the parking brake pedal mechanism? The spring I need is about 3/4” long and maybe 0.25” diameter fine wire. I can’t find a spring searching locally but might have to just try a few from places online that specialize in just springs. Thanks |
