Default I don't think I'll be running out to buy this:

McDonald’s is selling a spam burger topped with crushed Oreo biscuits in China as part of a promotion campaign in a move that has raised some eyebrows.

Yuk

I love spam sliced very thin and fried until it’s crispy, on a potato roll with melted cheese and a fried egg. Yummmmmmmm

I spent two weeks in Japan on business. The company I worked for assigned a Japanese host to to take me around and show me the sights, shopping, etc. I told him I was dying for a burger he took me to McDonald's for a quick stop before we visited Osaka Castle. He ordered 2 burgers for me. The burger was flavored with soy sauce and had Tartar Sauce on top. I took one bite, smiled and bowed politely and gave him the other one and insisted he join me as I choked it down.

Later in the day we tried the local favorite fast food, Takoyaki or "octopus balls", a ball of fried batter filled with diced octopus with soy dipping sauce. Much better than the burger actually.

Spam... the other kind of meat, with unmentionable ingredients included.

The same could be said for sausages, or any number of other meat products (the old saying about how you don't want to see how sausage is made is true). For that matter, stepping into most any type of food processing plant should only be done by those with strong stomachs...

Years of disinformation in attempting to make Spam the punchline of a joke.

Contents:

Pork Shoulder (no mystery here)
Ham (again no mystery)
Water
Salt
Sugar
Potato Starch (binder)
Sodium Nitrite (bacteria inhibitor, also promotes pink color in reaction with meat proteins)

No mystery meat, just USDA graded pork shoulder cuts and cured ham pieces. I worked for a cold storage company who received fresh pork shoulders from QPP (Hormel's own Pork Producer) trimmed, boxed, blast froze and delivered JIT to the Hormel Plant . Our freezer facility was across the street from the Hormel Fremont NE plant that produced Spam.

I like fried Spam and I love Oreo's but I'll eat mine separately, thanks.
