Default 96 Grand Am OBD "Not Ready"

I have a 96 Grand Am that I just bought. It had been sitting a couple of months with no battery. I took it to emissions and they said the OBD was "not ready" so they wouldn't test it. They said it has to go through a drive cycle to reset the computer. Is there a specific drive cycle or certain number of miles or something, and how do I know when it has reset so I can go to emissions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

There is usually a specific drive cycle that needs to be done, but normally it's about impossible to do on a normal test drive. We usually tell our customers to drive the car for about a week before they try to run them through e-check. That's usually enough time for it to run through the cycles. Only way to know is to hook up a scan tool to see if its ready. Good luck!
