Glad you got your Trans Am back.

Makes me think about a recent topic where we must daily drive our classic Pontiac's everywhere.

Not.

If you pull the starter motor off, carburetor off, steering wheel off, wheels & tires off & store elsewhere, chances are your car can not be stolen in 60 seconds.

Someone trying to pass off a '78 T/A for a 1980 would not be too bright.
Besides the hastle of changing the color & VIN, lots of other details are not going to match. Even if they did an impecable job of changing everything over, it's simply not going to be worth the money/time invested to do so.

Glad to hear the car was recovered though. A small victory against the car thieves of the world.
As mentioned in a previous post; the cops do not care when it comes to anything over five years or so old. It's just another beater car to them. I found this out seven years ago, when my baby was stolen.
