I have an extra set of the 670 heads that have never been messed with. Now, I was not really looking to sell them. However, if I have the code you need for your restoration then maybe we could work something out that wouldn't kill you as far as cost goes. Do you have the engine date code you could PM me with? I will check my extra heads for you. I do know my own heads on my 67 400 are a J code........ But, I've owned that engine since 1998. Heads and all. Mike

even if you found them how would you prove that they were yours? i know nothing about nor am i interested in numbers matching stuff but am curious. are there only one set of heads that would match your block? i didnt think there was considering people are always looking for date coded parts.

If he finds them, what does he care if they're his or not, as long as he can bolt them on and achieve the desired results, Chuck?

what? that makes zero sense in relation to this topic. he is looking for his heads of 25yrs not something to bolt on and "achieve desired results". again how could you tell? there are likely more than a few J code 670s floating around.

Any J code 670 head will do, Chuck. He'll never notice the difference

Maybe, punch a number(s) somewhere on the heads that the crook ain't gonna notice in his haste to nail the heads... Take a pic, shut the mouth, keep it for safekeeping just in case.. Going to small claims court for a hefty amount vs. a used-to-be-friend who built and sold a car with my engine parts on it... Yah never know who is gonna rip stuff from you... They could be the nicest most trustworthy people you know, but, one never knows totally what they are into and who they owe $$$ to... Protect yourself!!!

The best place to engrave a hidden code would be to do it on a valve guide

Somebody probably took them for scrap.

How many people come to your shop that know Pontiacs?

Only people who know Pontiacs and scrappers would want them..

Could be that a Chevy-, Ford- or Mopar lover perhaps confiscated these heads, for fear of losing future races

Maybe he's got 100 hours of porting into them that he doesn't want to have to do again. You are all missing the principal of the matter.

Somebody stole his ***** and he wants it back.

Why are people concerned with date codes and 670's? One of the few heads with the date codes under the valve cover. Those and RaIV's?

Btw I remove my garden hoses daily and put them in the basement, I hear they are a hot item lately

Now I am ready to start my restoration. They were stolen from my shop in the last 12 months in the north shore area of massachusetts maybe they were sold to someone I do not know. I would be glad to work with the person who may have ended up with them. Any information to there where abouts would be great
Thanks Joe B
Joe, that sux.
I have a set of bare 670 heads, date code C027 (March 2, 1967) I paid 450 for them some time ago. I'm willing to part with as I am now looking for a set of 6x's for my 66 resto. I'm in NY if you're interested. They might not be the numbers matching set you had but as noted in the post above, the date codes on the 670's are under the valve cover.
