Read the question at the bottom of the page. He volunteers that it "is not" an original RAIV.

Q: Does the phs show it as a ram air IV? Are the Q's original? Floors? Thanks
A: This is not an original ram air iv. It was built in Atlanta. All floors, quarters, doors and hood are original

Would those heads make my car a RAIV?

Striking color combo...you both did a great job on the car.

QUESTION:

What was the GTO as shipped? standard or III?

Thanks, Jeff

Nice looking car!! Two things 1) what catagory (stock, etc.) would this go in if it were entered for judging? The reason I ask is,I thought powder coating was a cause for point deduction? 2) if this were the original,a 69 IV car, wouldn't it be close to twice the price? Larry B. good luck on the sale!!!!!!!

Looks like it was created for the "lot of fun to drive" class in judging

the car was never meant to be judged...other than "people's choice"...as Kevin stated he doesn't need anyone to tell him what is wrong with his car. It was built simply because the "real" RA IV he did was not around long enough for him to enjoy. It now resides in Ray Skillens classic car collection in Indy...with a price tag of @ $89k. This car is twice the car as far as quality goes. It is an original WT Matador Red/red GTO. Dave Hillard built the motor to run mid-twelves thru full exhaust on bias ply tires and pump gas. We'll know tomorrow just how close he came. Camshaft was chosen to kill off some bottom end intentionally and the full exhaust was also a consideration. She went 13.09 @ 106+ first time off the trailer but the clutch went away on the second pass. We have a fresh one intalled and will be hitting Kil-Kare again tomorrow. Weather conditions look promising. The BB Chebby guys are saying "no way" to 12s in the "as she sits" format. I think Kevin may take 'em to school tomorrow night! Anyway...he doesn't really want to sell but he is still getting his business off the ground and must prioritize. The price of the car is roughly what the restoration would cost...the car is free! lol To be continued. Thanks for the kind words. Bounce out to the track tomorrow if you are in the neighborhood. Take care. Ron

I might have to come to KilKare tomorrow to watch

And run

In fact, pretty sure I will, with getting to watch the RA IV to boot!

Hey Ron,I agree, meant to be driven,That powder coating, especially underneath, is a tremendous improvement technology -wise.That stuff is tough!!

Since these cars are original only once,I would like to see the GTOAA allow the representation of the Chassis Black, whether it is powder coated or not. These cars are not QUEENS !!! The car is indeed gorgeous. Go get 'em at the track Larry Banks

Yea, I wish. Any check I would write for over $10.00 now would probably bounce! This restaurant is taking up all of my available cash right now. It damn well better pay off down the road. What you do for your kids!

Have some lookers...no cash yet. Still not into the 12s...but established herself as a solid 13.20 car all day any day! Unprepped track for test and tune. We got the better times at the Gassers and Geezers event where the track was prepped. It is tempting to throw a set of slicks on the car and get the timeslip...but that's not what this is all about, so we will continue to play with launch technique and tire pressure. Brought the short times down from initial 2.40s to 2.13 on the last pass....which netted a 13.25. Best pass was a 13.20 with a 2.27 60ft. I know...we're all over the place but it IS a learning curve. Kevin says he enjoys this much more than he did the 10 second '64 GTO and swears he'll NEVER go back to an automatic! Says he simply couldn't...this one is way too much fun. Money well spent in my book. He's hoping someone buys the car without the motor. Dave and Jim Hillard really did us right on this one, as usual! Folks just stare at the car and shake their heads...in a GOOD way! They cannot believe how the car looks...then cannot believe how it runs looking like it does! What a hoot. Anyway...we are NOT giving up. Our Club has a track rental day first week of September at National Trail Raceway in Columbus. I'm sure there will be no track prep there either but I am trying to swing a chassis dyno session beforehand to "put the coon tune on that bioch" as ZZ Top would say. [Manic Mechanic] Our sights are set on a Club member's '06 and another 462 '66. These are some high stakes bragging rights, as we've been hearing about these cars for a good while and frankly...we've heard enough! Clay...good to see you there and sorry we didn't lay down some better numbers...but they ARE coming. Mark my words. Take care. Ron
