This is true except for the idiot proof part. I had a guy melt paint on a fascia one time because he beared down too much trying to get a scratch out while using the wrong product. By the time I caught him the paint had wrinkled and the fascia was still hot to the touch.

Tell that to my checkbook for $250.00 and to the guy I fired.

You can generate heat with anything when you do not know what you are doing. You never warped a panel just by DA'ing it?

You hired a complete and total f-ng idiot, not an idiot. I hope you gave him a ride home so he didn't get lost.

Oh no doubt about that. He tried to remove a scratch with swirl mark remover. I have never seen a fascia get that hot from a buffer and I have never seen paint wrinkle like you put paint stripper on it. He just stayed in one spot until something happened. And it did.

I don't have much feedback on what to use etc as I have yet to do my own so should not speak until I have done so but I did find this video a while back that may help.

This guy too is a bit winded but it looks like what he does did the trick.

I would much rather do black. White is a b-itch to see issues. I was going to leave it alone as it seemed to have the correct amount of peel for a factory finish. Then, I looked at the original paint on the lowers and jambs. At least I don't have to do the bumper covers. Everything that is flexible has a bit of peel so the bumper covers match.

I am hoping to have this done in time for Norwalk. Assembly shouldn't take too long as most of the parts I have are NOS. But I still have to redo the wheels, get tires and I have some mechanical to do yet.

No buffing on this one for us. Owner says "It's a truck". Good enough for me.

Those old "box" body Fords had some rough paint from the factory anyway, because "its a truck".

LOL, Years ago I did a '70 Dodge R/T convertible for a guy and he asked if I can duplicate the original rough orange peel. I told him I could stand back about 2 feet when I pull the trigger.

Back in '80 I did my Lemans Sprint with slate gray Imron....didn't need to do anything after spray, but didn't know if i should anyway. Looked nice and shiny.
