I have a one car garage and six cars. My boss lets me keep two of them at work, but I'm running out of space. Decided I needed a new shed in the back yard. The rules for sheds where I live in CO is fairly loose. As long as it's 12 X 10 or less and a single story, you don't need a permit (I don't have an HOA). So I loosely interpreted what I consider to be a single story shed and started building it on a 12 X 10 concrete base I had poured with 9 foot walls. The roof should go on this weekend.

Looks from the 2x6s you will have it well-insulated (for a "shed") and plenty of room for a generous attic. Big project!! |

You are correct. What this will eventually turn into is a be-as-loud-as-you-want room where we watch Bronco games. It will be heavily insulated.

Finished up two projects this past week....
The first one was just a quickie - redoing the pots on the front porch. Took birch limbs and artificial flowers to create a maintenance free, changeable for the season (by changing the artificial flowers for seasonal type (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas motifs). The second project was putting a metal rook on our pergola on the west side of the house. Before and after shots. |

My garage addition started prior to the pandemic, and moved very slowly the last two months. Contractors doing most of it, but I just finished fabbing and positioning hoist rail posts which will have the floor poured around/over/under them. A 23' beam (3" square) will attach atop each set of 3 posts, a couple inches below the ceiling. I sure hope the overhead door company gave me correct dimensions for the 3 sets of door tracks and openers!
I hadn't realized how steel prices have increased- $1,500 for the steel and cutting and a little welding.

Couldn't get stock trusses to fit my dimensions, so the builder scratch-built rafters, joists, etc. 16" centers is normal in snow country, but he did over-build it somewhat.
Off-topic... when I was five, we actually had a brick outhouse! It was right next to the brick smokehouse- which we didn't use... I can't imagine the taste/smell of anything smoked it it.

I've been busy going through my closet full of unfinished guitar upgrades and projects.
First, the closet: Guitar with gutted electronics on life support, new electronics installed and sold. Gutted years ago for upgrades, new electronics installed and sold. Repair an early attempt to repair a scratch. There were extenuating circumstances. What looked like flame maple was actually a photofilm with a white polyester base. I drop filled tinted lacquer to fill a ding and it melted the emulsion right own to the film base. I finally leveled it with crazy glue and spot finished with an air brush touch up restoring the sunburst colors and flame "feathers" with a fine tip followed by a full top respray in lacquer. It was harder than it looks. New neck and new electronics installed. It's a keeper. Finish repairs to damaged neck and headstock, full respray, sold Custom build, sold. Custom build, keeper.
