the top HP on a dyno run does not always tell the whole story, attention must be paid to the whole power curve with intended useage in mind

It was NOT anectdotal.
The combo pinged so hard it pounded the bearings out of the engine.
The rotating assembly was fixed and it no longer pinged and made way more power.

Here is the dyo sheet.
Seldom, if ever will you see a 15% gain in power from a cam change. If one does, most likely something else is going on. Even if one is not aware of any issues.

What would have be nice is after they put new bearings in, they had run the XR276 with the ignition timing where the engine wanted it, instead of where the operator wanted it which caused the engine to eat itself.
