CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE THE AUTOTRONIC EYE IS LOCATED ON THE A/C DASHPAD? I CAN'T TELL FROM THE PICS IN THE SHOP MANUAL. THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID IT SAT ON THE A/C HUMP.

I didn't even think they came with them. I have only seen them on Chryslers and Cadillacs.

it was available. it had a section in the 1965 full size shop manual. 1966 shop manual didn't show this option |

421, from what I can remember it sat on the drivers side close to the windshield.
If you are just installing it for show thats fine, but its not going to work. What will happen is every time your headlights shine on a reflective sign ( they didn't have reflective signs in "66") it will flash on and off like a strobe light. However it is a cool looking thing. As a kid in the alley, this bookies "59 Caddy" conv. had one and I asked him what that was for? he said "thats a gun to shoot the next damm kid who hits my car with that ball"!!!! The corpses of children are called adults!! |

DEFINATELY a Pontiac option.
About 6" to the left of the A/C hump. Centre fron edge of dash pad to windscreen. I've got a template somewhere if you need a copy. Experience is that marvellous thing that makes you recognise a mistake when you make it again.
