help!

here's a happy story gone sour.

i changed my ring & pinion from a 2.73 to a 3.42. big smile from the 2 long patch marks from the posi.
upside smile as i looked at the speedometer. it shows higher speed from reality. varies higher according speed. 35 is about 30. 80 is about 60.
tires are 225r7514 with a turbo 400.

is there an easy solution?

Post your tire & wheel size & trans type & someone can hit it in the ballpark.

You can change the speedodometer gear, If your lucky, the one on the transmission won't have to be changed.

There is a formula to figure this out.I have it at work. You can call me during the day @ 617-327-2122.
You will need a speedo driven gear with more teeth. You may want to try a 42-45 tooth driven gear.Depending on what driven gear you have now,you may have to change the housing for the driven gear. You can tell by the #'s stamped on it.If 42-45 isn't on it,you need a housing that does.

The correct teeth number is listed in the Service Book.

I'll drag it out tomorrow if no-one else posts a reply. Midnight here. I'm off to bed.

Experience is that marvellous thing that makes you recognise a mistake when you make it again.
