I run 215/55/17's and 245/50/17's on my car. I would have gone with 255/50/17 on the rear if they would have been available in the tires I purchased - they would have fit even with my wider 12 bolt rear. My grandson worked for Continental and I got his employee purchase price - so I have less than $400 in my Continental ExtremeContact DWS06's.

I considered the 225/50's for the front, but opted for the 215/55's for two reasons:

1. They are a little taller
2. Just to be safe that I wouldn't have a tire rub (wider track than stock because of Wilwood front disc brakes)

You stole those Continentals. You are running the exact same size tires as I am for the same reasons. It would have been nice if they offered the 255/50/17 because I would have liked a little wider tire in the rear. But I am actually very happy with how my tire choice turned out.

I have seen pictures of that car before. It is actually one of the ones that helped me make the decision to go to 17" wheels and tires.

Default Sneak peek

What is the best way to drop this 2 inches guess on springs or cut a coil?

Thanks

Wait until you have the car completely back together, you will be surprised how much it will come down. My car was 3.5" too high in the front until I got it all back together then it was a little less than 2" high. I cut one full coil off of the spring and that brought it to where I wanted it. The plus to cutting off a full coil is that the spring still lines up in the upper and lower pockets properly. I decided to cut the stock springs instead of buying lowering springs because I already had the stock springs and I would not lose any money by cutting them. You could buy new lowering springs and still not be happy with the results. As a matter of fact some of the lowering springs even tell you you might have to cut them to get the right ride height. Hummm, if I have to cut a new spring I might as well save the money and cut my old springs.
