Default Key Buzzer issue on 68 GTO

So I just replaced my ignition switch on my 68 GTO with a new switch. With my old switch, the key buzzer worked normally, buzzing only when the key was in the ignition and the driver's door open.
With the new ignition switch, as long as the driver's door is open, the buzzer buzzes, whether the key is in the ignition or not. Is this more then likely a bad ignition switch or could there be some other problem?

My guess would be the switch. There are a couple of brass contacts down in the bottom of the switch that have to make under pressure from the key. You can see them while the lock is out. Maybe they just need to be flexed away from each other?

Sounds like the key buzzer switch contacts are touching.

My 70 vert had one of those damned buzzers. It annoyed the crap out of me so I disconnected it ... maybe the solution for yours as well? LOL

Thanks for everyone's input, but I just found the problem. As you can see in the picture I took, the aftermarket ignition switch plunger is quite a bit longer then my original causing it to constantly short out the contacts inside the switch assembly. I ground down about an 1/8 inch off the aftermarket switch plunger and all is working well now.

It constantly amazes me how they can take a OEM part, make a Aftermarket replacement, and screw it up.

Yeah, I wish I could say this was the first time I had to modify an aftermarket part but I can't. Seems to happen more and more that these parts have to be tweaked or bent or cut or something else to get them to work correctly.
