Wouldn't that be a '2G' for console?

This isn't a wagon is it?

Cool.

What options does it have?

The only thing I show for 1G is a power tail gate, which doesn't apply here.

Would be good to figure out the code for it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I there any place/webpage that does explain what the letters on the Baltimore cowl tag mean? I'm asking because my friends '66 GTO has letters also, B&D if memory serves me right. Jeff

Baltimore did not emboss 5 Group Accessory Codes on the '64 Data Plate so it is doubtful that the "G" is pointing to an Accessory/Option.

The first time I heard of an unusual code on a Balt Data Plate was from a '66. It showed "GD". Jeff, maybe your friend's GTO?

IIRC, nobody ever was able to conclusively say what it was there for.

I can't recall if I've seen a "G" before on a '64 Balt Data Plate. I have a pic of a '64 Balt Data Plate that shows "8111", I don't recall if it was discussed here or if it had a known meaning. Often, if the build was a Special Paint car, the Dupont paint code would be on the Data Plate, either full or just the 5 digit suffix. But this car was Yorktown Blue so nothing to do with that.

I checked many other '64 Balt Data Plates, didn't see any other such codes.

I believe Balt routinely coded the Fisher Body Gate No. that was used to fabricate the Body Assembly. That was numeric, yours shows "2". I'm not positive but I think the "285" was a sequence no.

I note that yours is a very late build. Used the later style Data Plate. Nothing odd about that.

Based on the "QQ" Paint code, your Lemans was NOT built with the vinyl top. The 2nd Q would have been coded with a number if it had. Would also show a "6" in Box 53 of the PHS doc, yours will be blank in Box 53.

PHS could possibly yield a clue about the "G" but I wouldn't count on it.

I started a new post in the 66-67 GTO section about my question, don't want to hijack this thread. I included pics of the data plate and the PHS .

Yes, that is the typical '64 PHS record for a Baltimore build.

Tough to decipher Chevy Form.

Balt built about 35,000 Pontiac A body cars, VIN range from B1001 to about B36000.

Yours was built about 2 weeks before the end, 7/16/64.

Any idea who the original selling dealer was (code 29-296)? Was sold to a dealer in the Newark, NJ zone, covered NJ and at least parts of NY.

Model 2227 is Model Series 22 Lemans, Body Style 27 2 dr. Sports Coupe (aka post coupe)
Trim K was the Lemans Bucket Seat code for Dark Aqua.
Color QQQ confirms the Gulfstream Aqua Lower and Upper Body Color with Gulfstream Aqua Wheel Color.
308 - Water Cooled 2 speed automatic trans
311 - 2 bbl 326 Engine
32S - Standard open differential
33A - 2.56 rear gear
352/366 - Tire code for optional 7.00x14 Whitewall Tires
431 - Back-up Lamps
44C - Pushbuttom AM Radio with Manual Antenna
455 - Dual Speed Wipers (without Washers, PMD Sales Code 402)
461 - Tinted Glass, Windshield Only
61B - Outside LH Mirror, Door Mounted (PMD Sales Code 602)
631 - Floor Mats, Front Only

Let me know if any of these decodes seem inconsistent with the options found on your Lemans.

Trans Code 30 - Model 30, Code C Super Turbine Auto Trans, correct for the 2 bbl 326 application. This is an unusual coding in my experience, earlier year they would have coded this trans as SH, first time I've seen it coded by the numeric Model No., no idea why.
Engine Code 96 - Correct Engine Manifest Code for 2 bbl 326 with Auto Trans, complete Engine Code stamped on the engine is 960.
RR. Axle Code 2A - Manifest Code for 2.56 axle with standard brakes and open differential.
Tire Code EZ - E size code for 7.00x14, Z sidewall code for Whitewalls. Y was the early year code for Whitewalls, for some unknown reason was changed to Z later year.
Radiator Code 53 - std. 2" x 15.5" radiator for the 2 bbl 326 application with auto trans, includes trans oil cooler.
Frt. Spring Code SL and Rr. Spring Code PU - standard springs for this application
Speedo Code Z - standard speedo driven gear for the trans, tire size, and rear axle combination.
Wiring Harness Main F and Engine G - Standard main wiring harness for V8 and engine harness for V8 without A/C
Fan Belt AH- - Standard V8 Fan Belt with NO OPTIONS, no PS or A/C, single belt
Instrument Panel Cluster G - Std. Cluster without GTO option or A/C, I previously showed this as for Tempest or Tempest Custom and Code 7 for the Lemans without A/C but I may have a glitch in my decode, as the only difference for a non-GTO should be A/C or not.
Battery A - Standard Delco Model 458 for the 2 bbl 326 application without A/C
Shock Sets SS - standard shocks for the A body with 326 except Safari Wagon
Gen U - standard 37A alternator with single groove pulley, p/n 1100683
Battery Cable Pos. F and Neg. F - standard battery cables for V8 applications
Radiator Hose KH - all V8 except GTO or A/C or HD Rad option

Stamped at the bottom and upside down is an imprint of the original Warranty Ident-O-Plate.

Looks like the EUN is 591925 which checks out with the late build of the car.
Engine code shows 960
Model is shown as 227
Color code shows QQQ
Trim shows 217 (correct for Dark Aqua Lemans bucket seat interior trim)
Body No. is BA 5268 which matches the Body No. on your Data Plate
Next line shows the VIN, 824B34359
G16 is the code for the Production Date of July 16
C319 is the Trans ID/serial no./assembly date code. Model C Super Turbine assembled on the 319th day of 1964 production by my best interpretation.
The last character is a Pontiac Indian Head symbol

That is your PHS fully decoded!

If you have the original block in the car I would welcome the opportunity to log the cast date that you can read at the back of the block on the pad by the Distributor Hole.

It likely is a very late "F" date or very early "G" date.

Post it if you can. Thanks.
