Default 1970 mirrors

Can somebody give me some information about the side mirrors for a 1970 gto. I seen chrome and the sport mirrors. Which is correct for a judge? are the sport mirrors different from 1970 through 1972?? Thanks Bob rjbeery@hotmail.com

Chrome mirror is correct for 1970 GTO and Judge. 1971 was the first year sport mirrors were available for the GTO.

The mirrors for a 70 are on the drivers side only, in standard or remote. The body colored sport mirrors were not available until 71, buy they will fit on a 70, but would not be correct.

You could also get a standard mirror on the passenger side, as a dealer installed option. It was actually the same mirror as on the LH, since the mirror head could be twisted around.
The remote mirror, however, did not have a mirror-image match for the RH side.
As above, the body-colored sport mirrors first appeared in 1971.

Sport mirrors are probably the most common add on to 70 GTO's. As soon as the 71 cars came out people were switching their 70's to sport mirrors. At the time they looked so much more modern and "70's" (back then "70's" was not yet a dirty word in the car world).

Default 71 GTO with a 71 inside bezel.

I found all of this out by investigating deeper, too. The odd part is that I have a 71 with remote bullet mirror, that has a cable end like that of the 69 & 70, and the bezel on the door is like 69 & 70 too. I bought a repop mirror assembly, but it has the correct 71 cable end. I either have to change the door bezel or, somehow change the cable end. Unless, someone knows how to change the end, I will need to change the door bezel.

What were the changes in the chrome remote mirror between 69-70 and 71-72? My assumption is that the knob and bezel changed but did anything else change?

Were there any changes in the non remote?

Also did the vent window version of the remote mirror change? In 69 they had a different angle to the mirror housing and mounted to the door with a bracket like used on the non remote instead of with studs. Also they used the 68 style round control bezel that had the knob point straight out rather than angled.
