I'd forward this to the foundry but most likely they already got the verbal edition.
Thanks for the reply, Frank

I visited the foundry yesterday and picked up both a new early and new late model casting. This is the first late model casting we have had to date (other than the machined billet) and we will fit check it to a late model block after I finish machining it. This late model version is virtually the same basic casting as the early, with interchangeable cores for the revised coolant crossover and flange length. The other early vs late differences are accomplished with machining and are not related to the basic casting itself. I was also able to verify the early model casting has had the changes incorporated and is ready to go.
I have authorized the first production batch of manifolds which will begin to arrive here in the second week of May. We will begin machining them right away and will start shipping as soon as machining is complete. Here are some pics from yesterday: Late model casting, ready for machining: Early and late model side by side: One of several stacks of tooling and patterns for this project:

We ran into a little snag on test fitting the late intake today.Discovered I had a 65-66 valley cover on the engine and there was a little interference between it and intake. So TAKE Notice! The valley cover or the intake MIGHT need some trimming to clear!I dont have a 69-70 type valley cover to retest. One other deal was the timing cover on my engine has very thick areas where the water pump bolts go.It restricted the tripower thermostat housing to slip in.Not a big deal with a little grinder. Will post some pics of it on my engine.Tom

Guys, these things work with the 8 bolt covers, one of the 11 bolt covers with the dimple is a 70 number 482883 but the bolt boss in front of the T housing needs to be ground back about 1/4 inch. The 8 bolt cover the factory made that boss about 1/4 in shorter than the rest. Will post a pic of the 8 bolt.Tom

You can see how that boss was cast short compared to the other.Tom

I used a 1974 11-bolt cover with the dimple with a 1966 Tri-Power setup.
I needed to remove about 1/8” from the top bolt boss, the clearance between the boss and thermostat housing was pretty tight but everything worked fine. So there’s no need to use the 8-bolt cover, by 1975 the dimple was omitted from the 11-bolt cover.

Exactly! For some reason the 11 with the dimple are getting hard to find a good one.Tom
