Default 1971/'72, How well does your Ram Air seal?

I bought the Parts Place Ram Air kit for '71/'72 Ram air hood.
The kit came with most of the stuff: the air cleaner, the hood pan, and the rubber boots. I had to buy the brackets separately; and I 'll still need to buy the themac thingie, and the "stove" that goes on the manifold.

Anyway; I got the engine dusty while cleaning the garage. I noticed after opening and closing the hood a few times that the boots never marred the dust on the air cleaner. I tried to shine a flashlight in there while closing the hood. I think the boots are hanging just above the air cleaner. It's hard to see.
I also suspect that the driver side snorkle and boot do not align perfectly. The passenger side seems to align, but the boots are just shy of the air cleaner. Tough to see in there. Perhaps I just need a bigger gasket under the air cleaner; or maybe the boots are still new and will relax over time.
No complaint here just wanted to see what others have observed.
This seems like a pretty nice kit and the price was right, purchased on ebay. It shipped/arrived very quickly.
