Default Race Gas jug

https://www.ruralking.com/catalog/product/view/id/40836

Saw these at Rural King. One question/answer says this jug is made by VP racing. But on the jug it has a no gas sticker. Is that because the jug is not RED ? Thanks, OGR

It would have to be red and have the safety nozzle claptrap on it to be marketed for gas.

I use these for race gas for use in my ATVs. Works a lot better than the approved containers. The cleanish/white containers are nice where you can easily see what is in it, but they do discolor over time.

Love these containers. The spout is flexible so you can get it into your car or motorcycle before you start spilling and no fussing with that pesky gas can “legit” McGillicuddy thing that always pisses me off.

The specs say it can be used for 'automotive fluids'. If you look at the Q&A section on that website, several people ask about using it for gasoline and they have a standard disclaimer response, as shown below. I assume the main reasons are it doesn't have the safety feature on the nozzle and it's not red, so it's not approved for gas in cars for street use.

Per the manufacturer: This is not a portable fuel container as described by ASTM, EPA, ARB and other official agencies. For Racing Fuel only, such as Nitromethane or Methanol, used in sanctioned motorsports. NOT for fuel used on highways. Also for storage and transport of feed, water, attractants, fluids and other outdoor products.

I was at the local Army Surplus store looking for the metal locking lid gas containers, as usual.
Have worked great for gas for the Lawn Mower vs the auto parts stuff.
See image below. I paid $19 per can.

So as usual they did not have any of them. Last time I was able to buy them was 5 years ago. So the sales guy tried to sell me Water containers as ok for gasoline. Anything to make a sale.

I passed.

Lots of crap out there today. The military stuff is much better.

Now the cans are between $55.00 and $80.00 per can. Figures.

It's translucent like the one's Summit and Jegs sells for race gas.
I read somewhere that white jugs are "exempt" from the red bottle rule for race gas ? Look around any race track.

The white jug has a "NO gas" sticker on it the red bottle does not.

The clear "race gas" jugs are fine for gasoline and they have the big, open pour spouts. It's a good idea to keep them out of direct sun so the gasoline doesn't degrade. The rest of the deal is labeling and specific regulations that doesn't effect the function of the container itself.

Yes that was my point never leave in sunlight it will degrade your fuel. Myself I would use a red jug for fuel just stops any confusion and problems getting them filled. A fuel jug is something you will buy very rarely so why not get a good one. They make red blue and yellow jugs for specific fluids.

Anyone remember the fastest pump gas pass with a Pontiac?
Frank went an 8.30ish when Bob accidentally put the generator (87 octane) in the fuel tank... it was a 15.1 engine..
Same fuel juggs for race fuel and generator fuel
..
Destroyed the engine...
Car normally ran low 7's....

Just think how fast that generator would have been on the race gas? 150 Volts? Just kidding.

I hear from reliable sources that nitro is a very bad idea for riding mowers. Not personal experience, but there are rumors.
