A buddy of mine has a 421 block that is missing a crank. These engines had 4.00" strokes. He is considering having a lot of 10 manufactured, based on the stock ARMA steel crank I have; 4.00" stroke and 3.25" mains, as steel billets. 10 is the minimum number for a special order from this particular crank house.

He says a 421 deserves the right crank. Fine by me, but with only a 4.00" stroke would there be any interest in this group in owning one? I do not know the time frame he is considering but when he says something he usually does it. I can't see him sitting on the extra cranks.

If there is any interest I will try to get a $ figure.

Just out of curiosity, what is the main bearing diameter on the IA block?

If you put this 4.0 crank in the new I.A block and leave enough material for three 30 over clean ups what would be the c.i. ?Wouldnt this combo have a killer rod/stroke ratio. How would this compare to a stock 455 crank.i.e. performance etc.??

4" stroke cranks are still relatively easy to find, even the forged SD cranks are available for a lot less than a billet crank. But, if your friend wants the billet, there are several companies that will make you one (1) crank. Try Crower or Crankshaft Specialists. A "stock" Crower will run you around $2200 (any stroke/journal). If you want all the tricks, figure on ~$2900. Either way, it's still a lot cheaper than buying/selling 10 units. Delivery is 6 months give or take a month (for a Crower).
