After nearly a decade of being unavailable it seems Spectra has started up production again of the correct '70-71 large can fuel pump. Part number SP1304MP.
Summit Racing and AutoZone show them as available. It also comes up as a product on the Spectra website. Would have to give them a call to see if it's too good to be true. |

O'reilly Auto has it under their Precision fuel pumps brand too. Looks like a reboxed Spectra judging from the pictures. Their price seems the cheapest at $22.99.

Sparks and I both ordered the spectra and it came as a small can. I have my doubts that they are producing a correct pump. But could be wrong. Lol

This is the picture that shows up for the Spectra SP1304MP. Napa doesn't carry this part number as of yet. They only have short can fuel pumps.

When I went to Oreilys to order the fuel pump for the 71 TA it came up on computer screen as the full body. I ordered it and it arrived as a short body.
The short body are available!

I am trying to get my hands on one or two Spectra SP1304MP fuel pumps. I have read all the posts and that one seems the best match for a 70 TA RAIII.
However, right now, everywhere on the internet, all the sellers and retailers do not seem to have this fuel pump in stock! Could it be Covid has struck the fuel pump supply chain as well??? Does anyone have a lead on some SP1304MP's?? Or I would be interested in a good used one and I could spend the $$$ and get it rebuilt, as stated in some of the other posts. Thanks in advance for any help...

Another case of a company with overseas manufacturing not knowing or caring about correct part to produce?
When the fuel pump died on my '71 T/A in early 2017, none of the parts houses even listed a mechanical pump as available. The only thing they had listed was a cheap retrofit electric pump. That is when I figured out that the 75-79 fuel pump was "close enough" to work. |

any reason this would not be correct for the '71 Firebird pump? It looks like the fuel lines aim in the correct direction compared to the one on my '72 but not sure if '71 is different. https://www.ebay.com/itm/40931-NOS-A...d9z:rk:37:pf:0

The original from my 1971 Trans Am, and what I think is the Spectra.

I also can get non-ethanol gas so I'll just run this one. There are also additives that you can add to ethanol hosed gas to make it safer for older rubber.
