Well I Cut the Oil Fill Tube at 2 Locations at a 45 Degree Angle, and welded in Baffles of .05" steel Plate with 3/8" cut outs on the lower edge for Oil Drain, the plates are installed 180 degrees oposed, we also installed a second PCV Valve and the end resault is about a 50% decrease in Oil Flung up the tube abouve 5000 rpm.
We also had to install restrictors in the PCV System as above 4500 rpm it was smoking like it had no rings left in it. Now it only smokes some above 5500 RPM, Yes it actually pulls to 6000 rpm, it will rev alittle higher, but does not seem to have anything more to give above 6000.

We got the engine back in the car last Saturday (had a setback with the passing of my father the previous Monday, but he was 93 years old and had not been doeing well for the last year or so. Still very Sad, had to start working on the car again to get my mind off of it.) Fired Up and broke the cam it. The engine really likes the H-cam, pulls hard from 1800 to 5500. all kinds of torque. I may have to much rear gear now!!!!! With the stock 250 I liked the 4.10 gears, with the 3.35 1st gear the car will just leap forward, I can actually put it in 5th gear at 45mph and accelerate without an issue! Could not do that with the stock 250 thats for sure.

A couple of issues with the car have poped up sense I started driving it,

1 - while it was sitting the fuel sender might have given up, reads full all the time now hope it is just a ground issue

2 - The Blinker Switch just quit yesterday, power in but nothing out, looks like I need to change that.

3- the interior Sail Panel covers are falling down. I guess the glue only lasts 44 years.

4- the drivers side rear window mechanism has an issue, something Broke, I will have to look into that this winter. I managed to get it back up, and it will stay that way for now.

5- I don't think the Hood tach is that accurate, It says it idles at 1200, (my Timing Light says 800, and it seems to think the engine will rev above 8000RPM!!!!! I had to put my old column mounted Sun Tach back on it. That 67 Hood tach sure looks good though!!!! I think the HEI might have fried it!!!!!!!

The engine Likes 38 total advance, this is a 9.2 to 1 CR engine, and seems to rum well on 93 oct unleaded!

I remember why I liked to drive this car now, It really does handle well, Varible ratio Power steering, 1.25" Front Bar, Wide radial Tires, but the Drum Brakes kinda Scare me alittle. It really needs some disc's and even though the car only has 68,000 miles on it. The front Bushings are worn out, I guess this winter is for a front end rebuild, and a set of front disc brakes!!!!!

I can't seem to get the pictures I took to load at the moment, Sorry.

Thanks Gary,

It has been a tough couple of weeks. I took a couple of shots while driving it to work on Tuesday. One actually to prove to people who know me that it runs again!!!! And one in the parking lot at work. About a 75 Mile round trip, I actually got to scare the SH#@ out of a non OHC-6 Believing coworker at Lunch!!!!! No grab handle on the dash ya know!!!!

Jeff my gas gauge does the same thing reading full. It tarted doing this last year and I haven't fix ed it. I was told that it might just be the ground which is tucked up and blocked by the muffler in front of the gas tank. Let me know if you get yours fixed so I can do mine

most likely a result of varnish/corrosion built up on the wiper, due to sitting so long in one spot.

Great build up and lots of attention to detail.

Is the HEI a direct swap or does it require mods?

If you have time please post some running videos of the motor... i need something to get my but in gear and finish my build up!

Thanks, I have had plenty of time to get it looking the way it does, but there is alot of clean up work to do yet, I am not satisfied with the wiring, and the fuel line going to the pump. And the cars 25 year old paint is starting to show its age.

Sorry to say the HEI is not a drop in, wish it was, I traded some parts with Tom Langdon of Stovebolt performance for the conversion back around 1999 (hard to beleive it was that long ago) he actually cut down a stock OHC-6 dist and mated the top portion of a chevy 6 HEI onto it. He said it was a real PITA to do compared to the GMC and Chevy OHV conversions he does

When I get back from Mexico I will see what I can do.

Jeff, what harmonic balancer did you use? Do you have a part number?

[QUOTE=Jeff Hamlin;5028340]Looking Good!

Jeff, she is running Fantasic, other than using some Oil that I am hopeing will decrease with a few more miles, the Torque is fantastic!! But I now definatly have to much rear gear, the 4.10 12 Bolt was a great combo with the 250CI engine, but wuth the combination of the 335 1st gear in the T-5 it is to steep for this engine. I can pull the wheels off the ground at launch if I want to.
Also after over 30 years playing with these engines I have Finally Gotten my 13 second time Slip 13.97 at 100.8mph Back in the Late 70's early 80's I had 2 different Cammers my original 69 Tempest 4-speed, and my 67 Lemans 4-speed that both ran very low 14's the 69 14.01 and the 67 14.08 both at 99 mph. I had always wanted to get either 13 seconds or 100 mph out of either of them, but never could. Now 35 years later Lilbird has Finally reached that Goal. So very Happy And I think there is more to be had out of the car with some tuning there should be at least anouther 2 tenths in it. But it has been a long and fustrating road. And it is a shame that it took my father passing for me to start working on the car again this year.

Thanks Jeff, it's actually the answer I wanted to hear!

The Pontiac 250 crankshaft snout is 1.310" and the Chevy is 1.246". I have zero issue's having a machine shop open up the balancer ~0.064" and doing what I need to for the keyway. I've actually done it before on an engine I race and street drive and have had zero issues with it.

And congrats on the ET and MPH milestones!

Just be aware that if you do that it will cause you to have reposition your accessories forward about 1 1/8 inch as you then have to bolt the V-belt pulley to the front of the fluid dampner. Unlike the stock HD that has the V-belt grooves to the back side .

Yup. The only accessory I am going to be running is an alternator, so I can work with that. It will also likely allow me to re-do my trigger wheel and get it behind the belts where I'd ideally want it.
