I have a good friend that has a tesla 3. He took an extended trip this past spring. He said whilst travelling they did have 'charge anxiety', a bit concerned about where to get the next charge. But all in all he said it wasnt too bad. Had to wait a short bit at each charge station but always found one.
Moms neighbor bought a new Lightning last fall. I have not seen him since to see how he has made out with it. His other vehicle is an electric mustang so he must like them!

What happens if you do run out of battery somewheres? Get it towed? Or maybe the roof opens up to expose some giant solar panels? ( if the sun is out, lol) Maybe they have reserve batteries?

You either get it towed or you try to charge it on 110 volt and get 2 - 4 miles of range per hour on the charger. In other words, overnight in most cases, if you want to go more than 25 miles.

To my understanding, Tesla doesn't have any small service type vehicles out (yet!)
The company servicing the chargers has to have some type of vehicle. That said, the CANOO's are coming to fill a niche. As far as awards, they're certainty take over the most hideous looking front end styling on any vehicle. www.CANOO.com

CANOO Assembly plant is in SW OKC off Council. That whole area I do my best to stay out of, very heavy semi traffic area. Huge Amazon center, Hobby Lobby/Mardels Warehousing, new massive Sam's Distribution Center just announced. Multiple dozens of smaller distribution centers. How much concrete can be poured, asphalt laid, & how many massive tilt ups can be built in one zip code?

Ford CEO Calls Charging Issues A ‘Reality Check’ During F-150 Lightning Road Trip

Quote:
Last week, Ford CEO Jim Farley hit the road in an F-150 Lightning pickup, driving along Route 66 and into the American West to really put the electric truck through its paces. Unfortunately, Business Insider reports that the EV road trip isn’t exactly all it’s cracked up to be for the CEO.

Farley has reportedly faced a few headaches when it comes to charging the Lightning, and he has acknowledged that there is much more that needs to be done in order to improve customer experience.

To answer your question: Millions and millions of square ft. in a 5 mile area around my house. 7 years ago I moved to my forever home out in the country. Now I am surrounded by 20 MILLION square ft. of warehouse space, about 25% of it built entirely on speculation. Proctor and Gamble, Crocks, 2 Amazon distribution centers, General Brands, Chewy.com are the big ones. Dozens of smaller 300,000-500,000 SQ Ft ones too. They offer 25 years of tax abatement, free road and utility upgrades and away they go. All tilt-up junk.

Glad I am moving 50 miles away from my current home to a nice piece of property in the middle of Large Acreage farms.
We used to have 4 very large "MALLS" in the Detroit area: Northland, Westland, Southland, and Eastland.
I lived a 1/4th mile from what was Eastland before the last mall was eliminated. But Home Depot, Lowes, and Amazon built large (AMAZON key point in this post,)
Stores and Warehouses and the city (17,000 people) today has the nicest high school on the east side of the city.
The Grosse Pointe schools are ancient vs the modern high school in the neighborhood I am moving out of.

In this case, Mike, the businesses you mentioned are basically supporting the entire budget of my current city.
Sounds like your Township did not do a very good job of working deals with these large companies.

That said, I wanted acreage in the country.

The farms are minimum size of 100 acres and many are 5 to 10 times larger in size.

Gods Country for me. 30 deer drank at my lake a few days ago. Still moving tons of Pontiac stuff to the new place.

So I guess it is how a given township/city makes a deal with these large companies, you mentioned. Ford, GM, TELSA, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Will not effect me one way of the other.

Sorry to hear that your case is different. CITY-FIED. Cheap taxes, etc

Tom V.

Ford says they want everything EV in 10 years, good luck with that target.

If this technology works out, it could close the gap between ICE and EV:

Fully Charged in Just 6 Minutes – Groundbreaking Technique Could Revolutionize EV Charging

Quote:
Typically, it takes around 10 hours to charge an electric vehicle. Even with fast-charging techniques, you’re still looking at a minimum of 30 minutes – and that’s if there’s an open spot at a charging station. If electric vehicles could charge as swiftly as we refill traditional gas vehicles, it would alleviate the shortage of EV charging spots.

The efficiency of lithium-ion batteries, the type used in electric vehicles, is determined by the anode material’s capability to store lithium ions. Recently, Professor Won Bae Kim, from the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Graduate Institute of Ferrous & Energy Materials Technology at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH, President Moo Hwan Kim), led a research team to develop a new anode material.

His team, which included Ph.D. candidates Song Kyu Kang and Minho Kim from the Department of Chemical Engineering, synthesized manganese ferrites (Mn3-xFexO4) nanosheets using a novel self-hybridization method involving a straightforward galvanic replacement-derived process. This groundbreaking technique boosts storage capacity approximately 1.5 times above the theoretical limit and enables an electric vehicle to be charged in as little as six minutes. The research was recognized for its excellence and was published as a front-cover paper in the journal Advanced Functional Materials.

I wonder if it matters how big the wire is suppling the charger and from the charger to the battery?

I'm betting that has everything to do with the strikes, in spite of their protests to the contrary.

It'd be nice if they could break those parasites once and for all.

We got a box of one-off prototype parts this week from a facility where the UAW does the shipping. They considerately packed 7 heavy cast iron parts together in one pallet box and threw some paper on top, so only 6 of them were unusable when they arrived.
