Question Who makes the U/L rad. hoses w/ correct markings?

OK,I just picked up the hoses from The Parts Place in Elburn Il.
No wonder why there are no pics of the upper and lower radiator hoses on there site, the markings are not correct.
They have the part number with "GM" stamped but no arrows pointing to the word"RAD" on the original hoses that are on my 79 W-72.
Well, that was gas waisted, and more to return these.
Who has the correct markings on new ones?
I already tried the Pontiac dealership, they told me they are discontinued.

Ok,correct number is the one I have on my original hose, but I'd like to replace it.
Number is 489867-LU,now that's for a 79 W72 heavy duty radiator with A/C.

You really don't think a radiator hose from from 1979 should be replaced?

With a car that age, I'd be more concerned with ALL the rubber fuel line sections spliting and leaking. Especially the ones under the pasenger side rocker panel.
Rarely does anyone consider these hoses when driving a "survivor" until it's to late.

Now you have another issue to deal with.

I made a stamp for the upper hose for a '73SD. Pictures show the stamp used on a concour restored SD and the original stamp from a low mile unrestored SD that I used to replicate the stamp. It can be stamped in yellow or white ink on a new hose.

This stamp is based on the '73 vintage label. By '79 even though the part no. is the same, the word "Radiator" is abbreviated to "RAD" and the configuration of the arrow changed (I'm comparing to my original '79TATA hose which is pristine and still flexible). If I could find the digital file, I may be able to re-configure and make a new stamp. The aspect ratio of the letters appears to be the same, but the letter M off to the side has changed to the letter S.

Feel free to contact me if you're interested.

165th,

That is very impressive! A few questions:

How did you go about making the stamp?
What type of ink did you use?
Can the long yellow lines found on 77 TA factory hoses be stamped also?

Coolbird, the stamp was made by sizing a digital photo of a correct stamp to actual letter size, then use the correct letters, symbols and spacing between as an underlay or 'go-by' to create a new digital image so a stamp can be cut.

The long continuous yellow lines are not specific to '77. They are on most years, including my '79 lower radiator hose. They are usually accompanied with letters and numbers that are larger than the part number. The stripe itself can be replicated with a wheel, instead of a stamp.

Permanent ink can be purchased where the stamps are made.

OK, here is what I have.. upper # 481776 My book that only covers up to 75 lists it as 71-75 ALL V8 ex 307, 71-75 B, F V8. So would say that this is a very common hose, right?

The lower, I have is not in my book so I figure it must be a later number. the 70-75 lower hose as # 3959488. This hose is 48**54 LU, The lower I have was not stamped very well. These are NOS GM HOSES I bought these with a bunch of other stuff that a guy was selling at Jefferson a few years ago. Alll the other stuff was for a 73 and pretty much all has been sold.

UPPER

LOWER

165th,
Thanks for the information. Your markings really look great!

Here are a few pics of Two 77 Survivor cars top rad hoses. The first picture is of a 750 mile Survivor 4-spd TA. The second pic is of another 77 TA with its original top rad hose.

Now John Witzke's car appears to not have the yellow markings. Maybe he can chime in here with some info.

One more picture of the other side of the upper hose, with the familiar yellow numbers.

Also, a couple of pictures of the lower hose, part no. 480200 NT. The second picture has a wealth of rare details that can be seen. Working from the top of the picture:

Blue engine overspray on the valve cover
OK-3 on the face of the block
Original part no's on the GM A/C belt
yellow inspection paint on the block
HG stamp on the heater hose
Towson MD Silver seal worm clamp
and finally, the original yellow numbers and stripe on the lower hose.

Bear in mind, the only stamp this repro is the yellow 489867LU in the first post here. The other pic's are all original hoses from a 3,100 mile TATA.

I thought the hose for a 73 was 481776,not 489876 shown on your pics?
Am I wrong?,were both used?
I bought ones from Ames for the 73,.....481776 but with white markings very similar to the yellow marked one you show,it looks correct but not exactly like yours.
