sending a private message

I guess I've lost my mind. Can't seem to find the link to send a PM. When I click the posters name now, it seems to open the posters profile. There is a link Send Message, but whenever i use it, the person tells me they never got it. What happened to the dropdown box that used to appear with the option "Send this member a private message" ?
