Default Norwalk updates

I'm not there...wish I was.

My intrepid reporter tells me it's the biggest turnout he's ever seen for a Friday at this event.

Fastest car on the property today was John Welter with a 6.99.

The "Magicar from the Midwest" puked its guts out on the 1st burnout...not sure if it will be back for the weekend.

"Dirty Bird" will be making its first pass of the weekend tomorrow around 1pm.

Tom, thanks for detailed info, and others as well.

Was it actually raining there or calling for it?

Going to be a great weekend for sure.

I came back from last year with stories of all the truly quick cars at Norwalk. Friends said things like "that's nice". Well, two more newbies from the left coast went this year, and I got three calls today from my buddies at the track with comments like "I can't believe how fast all the cars are". Everyone can talk about the Norwalk Experience; but until you get there personally, you just don't know what you're missing. Keep the reports coming.

Jack's Hemi is full of neat Old School tech & Jack-a-roo special items. He installed a resivior for gas to prime for starting that he could reach from drivers seat as he was mostly his own pit crew..Cool

Thumbs up

Looks like RAIN all day Saturday and raining now in Norwalk.
From Norwalk on my cell phone

Kauffman never made it out of the water box. BAMMMMMMMMMMMM oil pressure issues.

Kinsler ran a 9.08 #2 qualifier but out 60 ft'ed Pickett (big tire) on 275 drag radials.

John Langer 9.01 but slipping and slidin.

Scott Rex.................. 7.40 something

Frank from All Pontiac.............. 7.60 something.

Brad Spidel with his ATI ProCharger car smacked the intake valve in #5 first pass and are overnighting an Intake Valve

John Welter is the fastest at Norwalk. 6.90 something.

Wreakmaster on PY with the Nitrous Black Goat hurt his engine on a Nitrous pass.
Goes by Silgoat on PZ

Brian, Bad69Bird, Hendrick ran an 8.48 at only 164 or something right out of the trailer with his new CV-1's Friday .

Lil Jack ran an 8.59 on his safe normal tune up.

'Dirty Bird' might have a replacement driver by a driver that is more then capable. Rob Bruce. Known to many Pontiac racers.

More to follow.

Default Norwalk

Norwalk...........................sprinkles have stopped (9:15am) day one was great, soooo many QUICK Pontiacs. Looks like the biggest turn out ever!, Welter did run a 6.99.......I'm thinking 196 mph, I missed the run, everyone just getting a feel for the track. Kauffmans cars are all OK. I got runner up in the gamberles race, got spanked on the tree and out drove topend!
I was pitted next to Jack in Linders lot when he STARTED HIS HEMI PONTIAC early in the morning.................I told him thank you. There calling me up to the concession stands now (Dil's after ME!)...........................more to come later!

Ken, last I checked his Goat was purple, not black.

Rob Bruce is supposed to be driving "Dirty Bird" this weekend. I don't think he would be coming down from Michigan just to hang out with Bob & Frank.

Whether or not Rob can "fit" in the car (he's about 1/2 Dave's size...) is the only real question. His driving skills are not in question. Apparently he's been through this before, as he has a "turtle" he uses to make larger seats "fit". We wish him luck. I'm a bit bummed, as I made other plans once the decision was made to NOT race. This is the first (and last) time the car has been run that Dave and I weren't there. Frank found Rob available and Scott agreed, provided all normal precautions are taken.

The other "issue" is starting the engine. They left the cable that connects the battery to the starter behind (DOH!)... Bob left me a message last night about firing it "like a lawn mower", but much of it was garbled so I didn't get all of it. Go for it, guys!

Jim
