Default 66 tail light lense gasket

I did not find a gasket between the tail light housing and the lense on my car when disassembling it. The lense was just screwed directly to the housing. Is there supposed to be a gasket used in this location?

Absolutely should be a gasket.
Ames has Repros.

Default 66 tail light lens gasket

I saw a listing in their catalog for “1966 Tail light lens gasket, GTO” with PN L160J on page 154 of catalog G37. This appears to be the black thick dense foam gasket that fits between the assembled tail light housing(with the lens already attached to it) and the inside of the rear tail panel. That gasket was on my car and I was able to salvage it. I don’t see a gasket in the catalog designed to fit between the die cast housing and the plastic lens. Am I missing something?

No need for a gasket between the lens and housing as the thick gasket covers the area were the lens meets the housing.
However, you´ll need the washer gaskets on all molding retainer pins to seal molding to body.

Default 66 tail light lens gasket

Kenth, thanks for this info. Just to be clear, it sounds like you are describing washers with some kind of sealer on one side that slide over the Louvered molding attaching pins before you slide the molding through the holes in the rear panel. The washers are then captured between the front face of the molding and the rear face of the tail panel with the sealer contacting the rear face of the tail panel. Does that sound right?

Yes, the washer seals the molding pin holes from the outside of rear panel.
IIRC i used these on my GTO;
