Gap between A pillar and door?
I have gaps between the bottom of the A pillars and doors of nearly 1/2". Seems like a lot, and am wondering what's normal. I'm not going to run the decor molding.

Here is a pic of my Buddies Formula that is almost ready to go to paint. With the top chrome and gutter it will be very close.
Even without Decor, if you have a rain gutter it closes that gap up a lot. |

You may want to lay your A-Pillar reveal molding in there - there is a taper/pinch at the bottom of the molding that should align with the bottom of the A-Pillar.
For whatever reason, the gap from the pillar to the door does seem to vary on these cars. The shop that painted my TA happened to be doing a 70 Formula at the same time, and I recall on that car he did weld on some metal at the bottom of the A-Pillar to close the gap up a bit.

The windshield molding lines up...but now wondering what to do with the finish in the area between the molding and the pillar. There's a gap you can see in the photo, and wondering if it just had a pile of caulking in there?
Could someone post a good pic of that area with no door molding?

duh...I forgot about the lower windshield trim pieces, which should mostly cover that area.

You are obsessing.......As long as the front and back door gaps are good........and door top, fender and hood edge line up.....you prolly won't even notice when painted and assembled...

Unless you have spent a lot of time cleaning up the gaps around your car. I ended up welding filler and recontouring in my A pillar gaps, both sides of my doors and my trunk lid, so I notice stance first, then I notice is how a car is gapped.
