Vintage Certification™ is a judging program whose sole purpose is to recognize, provide status, provenance, and promote un-restored (survivor) vehicles. We believe it is the only program that focuses on documenting and benchmarking these cars. Our core certification team consists Brett Merryman, Chris White, Alex Sahely, Scott Tiemann, Frank Badalson, Roger Gibson, Steve Shauger, Steve Minore and other marque specialists based on make and model. Each core team member possesses over 30 years experience as restorers, collectors, historians and judges in the hobby. Typically we spend 3hrs examining in detail every segment of your car including the underbody on a lift. We understand not every original car is 100% untouched, and we offer five levels of certification, based on the originality of the Vehicle.
Vintage Certifications™ five divisions:

Vintage Time Capsule - Vehicles that are 95+% unrestored in all reference areas
Vintage Legend - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in all reference areas combined.
Vintage Heritage - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in four reference areas.
Vintage Legacy - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in three reference areas
Vintage Reference - Vehicles that are 85+% unrestored in at least one reference area.

Reference Areas: Certification consists of two areas of consideration, Originality and Preservation. Reference areas are as follows:

• Engine Compartment Area
• Exterior Body
• Interior Body
• Underbody
• Trunk (except Corvette)

<span style="font-weight: bold"> This year looks to be a fabulous year for unrestored cars. How about a 1971 Hemi Challenger with 1,800 miles or a 1968 rs/ss L78 Camaro with 24k miles or ultra (only a handful built) 1967 Hemi Belvedere. Talk about a rare finds.

Steve runs an amazing program. I had our 1973 SD455 Formula verified by his crew at MCACN last year. They were on that car for the entire day (it seemed like).

The car was eventually awarded the Vintage Time Capsule certification.

It was during that process that we discovered the SD455 starter part number/date anomaly: documenting that a single batch of starters was produced on a single day in February 1971 and they were used on the SD455s in 1973 - over two years later. Steve was able to compare prior Vintage judging data from his records and when combined with my research, we found that every untouched survivor car we came across had a 1108436 with a "1B11" manufacturing date. 45 years later and we are still learning new stuff. Very cool!
