That is great news! February works for Mark and I, and I'll get the word out to the rest of our group. The previous tentative date wasn't working out well for us. Excellent!

We'll plan to attend in Feb then. Providing it's not snowing up here, lol. But chances are usually good by then that the weather will be okay.

Should be nice racing weather in Phoenix that time of year though, in the 70's and near sea level DA numbers.

Good news to hear! As long as it is related to the Pontiac V8 engine, it is welcome. Only real Pontiac V8 power can participate.
We also welcome the '61-3 Tempest 4, mid 60s OHC 6s, pre '55 flatheads and , of course, the IAs and MR-1s.

As soon as the new year gets underway I will begin to get ready for February. I haven't been out with my Tempest since last May, so I have some work to do. The weather and density altitude should be great and I'm hoping at the very least to better my 7.81.

The host hotel is five minutes from the track and a nice place to stay. Looking forward to it!!

Jim

Last years Pontiac Heaven "Best of Show" was Don Paterson. Shown in the winners circle overlooking famous Firebird Lake where 250 mph blown nitro hydros run a few times a year.
Pontiac Heaven events are ran at Wild Horse pass Motorsports park. Not only the home of Firebird lake and the Bondurant School of high performance driving, Wild Horse hosts the NHRA Arizona Nartionals! In fact, the NHRA Nationals are the week following Pontiac Heaven!
Who will be our winners this year for our 20th? Make plans to attend.

You are not likely to have any problems from the wifey or family about wanting to head to Phoenix next month for a 'car weekend'. Not after they see what else is offered in the immediate area! The Wild Horse Pass area is geared to tourism and nearby is something for every member of the family!
There is Rawhide 1880's town, casino gaming, tons of places to eat for all budgets, Love's travel center with showers for those camping, golf, horseback riding, premium outlet mall shopping and more.
Imagine all this cool stuff to do for your family in February! It's Pontiac Heaven weekend. Event proceeds will benefit the Pontiac Heaven museum right herein Arizona! The acreage is paid for, permits approved, a 9,000' square foot building has been purchased and delivered. The next step for the museum is getting the building put up. Then restorations already started can be finished.

Support our hobby, support Pontiac Heaven, "Real Pontiacs Only, No Corporate Nonsense since 1998"

A big part of Pontiac Heaven weekend is where all 1981 models are allowed in to compete with our Ponchos both on the strip and in the show area! Plus, you will see vintage race cars including nitro dragsters that will fire up and cackle. It's a great time.

One of the more popular classes at the Reunion is A/FX. Come and see Glenn Gibbons' '64 "Poncin' Poncho" AWB Lemans with Hilborn injected 421 power!!!!

Here is the event flyer marketed to the non Pontiac people out there-

See that hot rod with the tilt front end? Yup, it's Pontiac powered

Plus, I will have on display one of my 2 Pontiac powered AA/Fuel Dragsters! This one from 1962 built and driven by Dean Turk of Mesa! If you attend, you can even meet Dean Turk himself in person!

Also, I have arranged to have "The Joshua Stone Band" playing live in the show area on Saturday! It's going to be a great time.

Pontiac Heaven was conceived as a tool to promote, develop and help spread the use and knowledge of the Pontiac V8. Since 1998, only real Pontiac power is allowed to enter on Sunday. There will nto be any aztecs, no LS stuff, no chev , olds, buick powered Pontiacs. It's all about Pontiac power!
We do, and have always welcomed- 61-3 slant 4 Tempests, mid 60s OHC 6s, pre '55 flatheads, all IA and MR-1. Any year or type of vehicle is welcome, as long as it is real Pontiac powered!

Here is an info sheet on one of my personal displays to be seen at Pontiac Heaven weekend.

and the car mocked up. It's going to be a real blast driving this sucker on the street and strip! For sure

Drag racing is just plain cool! It's fun to watch, fun to do. Then, there are car shows, they are great and have their place too. And, everyone loves going to an event where they may find a special part. Pontiac Heaven has alwasy been 'parts friendly'. People can set up a swap space for free ( with general admission ) and maybe come home with more $$ than they arrived with.
New to Pontiac Heaven for 2016 was an autocross. I have wanted to add a Pontiac powered autocross for some time. So far, we ran 'em in '16 and again in '17 and it is catching on. People are having fun running their Pontiac powered entry to see how their car handles and how their driving is. Plus you can take a friend along too! Chris Hall has an outstanding '69 400 Firebird and he regularly runs autocrosses with his prepped Poncho corner monster. Chris has been working with me and running the autocross for Pontiac Heaven. It is a lot of fun to watch, to ride and to do. All while overlooking Firebird lake!
Here is Chris with his stunning '68 400 Firebird! This is part of the 20th annual Pontiac Heaven weekend on Sunday, Feb 18, 2018.

sorry for the few typos I see now and can no longer edit them. Chris Hall's Firebird is a 1968, not a 69. there are a few typos but, I think everything is legible. Have been up all night and getting pretty tired. thanks for understanding. SB

More things have been added to the Pontiac Heaven weekend schedule including many more classes for Saturdays nostalgia show, There will be 3 additional index classes for 81/older door cars and 3 added for center steered cars ( slingshots, altereds, etc ). Now working on a quick 8 hot class as well for Saturday that will have a pot of over $2,000! The hot A/FX class for 61-9 door cars already has a pot of over $1,300 as well.

Gates will open Friday morning at 9am for a casual swap meet set up, pit parking and arranging. The track will go hot at 2pm for Pontiac power and nostalgia entries only. That will run until 6pm and I let in everyone for Friday night Drags which run until around 11 pm

For Sunday, I am adding a round table discussion focused on Pontiac V8 power and related- Some of our speakers will be- Frank Gostyla of AllPontiac.com covering some of what the aftermarket offers for Pontiac power fans, Chris Hall will be discussing how to improve your vintage Pontiac powered vehicles handling and braking ( as well as running our autocross ), Craig Hendrickson, co founder of H-O racing, will cover much of the progress made in the 70s with Pontiac power and I will be covering subjects like- the Pontiac Heaven Museum, daily driving your vintage Pontiac for reliability, the M/T HEMI Pontiac and more.

We still have some rooms avail at discounted rates at our nice host hotel. Come and enjoy Phoenix next month! Info on the fliers posted in prior posts. Keep current on the Pontiac Heaven Face Book page- www.facebook.com/PontiacHeaven

Another special display at this years Pontiac Heaven weekend is a Real vintage Pontiac power Top Fuel Dragster from the 1962-4 time period. To top that off, the chassis builder and driver, Dean Turk, will also be my guest! This pic of a press release from summer of 1963 at the ground breaking ceremony for Beeline Dragway outside of Phoenix. Dean Turk is also in the pic! I have located this original car and much of the restoration has been done. It will be on display Feb 16-18 with Dean Turk and Dave Keyes who helped with the Resto!
This car is part of the Pontiac Heaven Museum project here in Arizona. All proceeds from this event weekend will go towards getting the musuem building erected and then I can start finishing many of the restorations already started. Your support is needed and appreciated! thanks
