Default Going racing

Since The “race section” thread is going and I have been a member of this board for years now but rarely post I figured I would. I’m going racing this weekend at our local tracks nostalgia event. Running TNT Friday night and then running no box and NS/SS class Saturday/ Sunday. I rarely get out with my car anymore but I always make this event and Norwalk for the nationals. Car is a 72 lemans sport that I built over a ten year period and it has kinda transformed into a drag week build. 505, 4L80e , 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. At Norwalk this year it ran pretty consistent 10.79-10.84 Through the mufflers on ET streets. I’m removing the exhaust and putting my slicks on for this weekend hoping I’ll see some 10.60’s and with any luck win some races!

Nice, good luck out there. You should have some good air this time of year. Were also headed out this Friday. Hopefully the track is prepped good. Ya, let us know how it goes.

Going to keystone/ Pittsburgh raceway park. This race always seems to have a hiccup for me. Last year I was kicking butt then a 10 minute rain blew in late in the day and they had to call it. The year before I blew the sprag so had no 2nd gear, just always seems to be something but I suppose that is racing!

Can I ask what you think caused the sprag to go out and what the fix was? Thank you.

Well now that you ask I’m recalling what actually went down. At the time we all thought for sure that was what happened. IIRC it ended up being a bizarre hydraulic issue for 2nd gear and the formed piston had a small tear in it. It was odd because the trans had a couple hundred street miles and several 1/4 passes and then bam no 2nd gear. It’s been together now a couple years and works great. I love having the OD.

Saturday lost in 2nd round of no box when I turned it red. Gave a easy win away too but isn’t that how it always goes when you light it red! I won the first two rounds of NS/SS and was getting ready for the 3rd round when a quick rain shower out of nowhere put an end to the evening around 8:30. That’s the way my luck has gone at this race for several years now. Down to 12 cars remaining and I was on the ball. My last pass I had a 10.80 dial And went 10.7995 vs a 11.00 dial that went 10.9978. Close double break out! All in all had a great day. Today was a total rainout unfortunately.
