Default Metallic Chip touch up

What is a good method (if any) to touch up chips, gouges in metallic paint about the size of a pencil eraser?

Paint with a tiny brush, slather on the clear, sand smooth, polish?

I bumped my beautiful recently painted endura nose with a cinder block I was trying to sneak by with. About the worse possible thing you could bump into a car

Just fill in the void…stay inside the edges with base. Then do the same with activated clear…then walk away. From 5 feet ..you’ll be the only one that knows it’s there. And try to pay more attention next time bumbling around your freshly painted Cah. Oh….I use a tooth pick for jobs like that.

Thank you sir, I think I can do that. Luckily it's a dark color, with dark primer below it.

I'm not good at judging distances

Second on the tooth pick- I find it easier to ‘drop’ the paint into the void.

This paint pen makes it easy to do touchups without excess material.

I just purchased from here and am happy with outcome. I also have a polisher and polished it after the clearcoat to blend the clear with the old.

I wonder how good a gravity paint pen would work since this is a vertical surface?

I've still got plenty of the base coat and clear I originally used.

I have a feeling before long I'm going to have the first, second and third chips out of the way . Need to buy a cover for it quickly.

I was actually wondering the same thing about the toothpick method. I have a couple of vertical surface chips also and was wondering if it wouldn't pool up at the bottom of the 'divot'

I also use the toothpick method, cheap and easy way for touching up nicks.

They work pretty good since it’s capillary action that draws the paint to the tip.

X2 great touch up tool with very fine control. You migth need to thin the paint depending on viscocity.

As suggested filling with a couple coats of base using a tooth pic should work. Place the paint your going to use as well as a few separate drops of clear on a small plastic lid or something similar. Since your working with metallic color you can use the tooth pic to “pic” thru the base for the level of metallics you want. If you can’t get it just right you can add in a drop or so of the clear to help thin out the metallics a little. This will help smooth things out as metallics tend to bunch up and cause a lighter color when spot filling…..

The "Chip" in question ... actually the word chip is kind of optimistic ... more like an abrasion.

At least it's down low on the nose. I haven't touched it with anything yet, not even my finger as I don't want to contaminate it.

The other streaks are just reflections and dust.
