Default 1970 formula ram air air cleaner

So I been hunting down a 1970 formula air cleaner and noticed the 71 studded air cleaner is different the studs are on a bracket that holds the heat vacuum value in place while the 70 is welded to the vacuum value. These values do go bad but when replacing them the studd needs to be rewelded to the new one and I imagine that's not easy since the repops are probably thinner. Anyone have this problem and what about brackets? Since the stud is not in same place I'm assuming the 71 brackets aren't same as 70. I have a nice 73 with no studs that I'll run till I find a restored one or my original. Formula Bruce mentioned that the repop boots aren't as stiff so I will not really need support brackets. My original hood got stolen and I'm probably going to run a 71-75 hood. So what you guys do if these vacume values break on a 70. I might just add the brackets with studs like on the 71 for fun if I can not find mine or just forget it and move on. Just noticed the difference between the famous studded air cleaner from 70 to 71. Never done this before so advise is needed thanks! Wait I might be wrong the 70 71 might be same. Yes a little confused

Your last picture looks like a '70 with the 2 studs and only one stove. The 71-2 in the first and second pictures are missing the vacuum diaphragms. You can purchase reproductions, but you have to modify them to work. And, of course, you can replace the hold down or bend the tab to remove the diaphragms, but you'll have to weld on a stud.

Mine I think you said was 73 if I remember correctly. Where can I purchase studs? If I had a lathe I could make them. I can have them welded on mine but im.concerned about messing it up, it's an original even thou it's not a 70. Yes I'm confused. Is the center air cleaner area the same? Is only difference the studds that where deleted after 2 year run? Anyone know the history of why factory deleted the studs? Was it over engineered?

HFR is correct;
the studs are on the brackets which hold the diaphrams in place.

I found some rochester 2bbl carb studs which were near dead ringers, and used them.

There are at least a couple threads here that either I instigated, or was involved with, wjich discussed the studs.
The discussion overlaps to 1971 GTO's as their ram air setup used the same air cleaner (and boots) assembly as the Formulas.

Very nice did you add or is that an original? If original can you tell me the depth and diameter of air cleaner area. I want to compare that area to my 73 unit

I added them;
you asked about the studs then HFR and myself replied.

Sorry if I have caused any confusion.

I said where to find near dead ringers for the original studs, and have mentioned that I added them to one of my air cleaners in the past.

I had previously taken photographs of an original '70 L74/M20 car's air cleaner setup from ages ago (I went to look at the car for another member of this forum);
I replicated it on my SR air cleaner because of how much legit '70 air cleaners have been getting, and my figuring the improbability of doing some sort of a trade for one.

There are flat headed 1/4-20 bolts available that can be soldered or welded, or glued on ..
