Default Rally II JA code wheels on a drum brake car

I have a set of 14x6 JA code Rally II's laying around that I would like to put on my 69 Firebird with drums all around. Will they work or is the backspacing too great?

So where is the difference between the wheels made for drum brakes and the ones used for disc brakes?

Hey Evan!
I think the drop center is where the difference lies for caliper clearance. I have about 9 JC wheels here (very nice shape) if those wheels you have don’t work out for some reason. I think the JA wheels are hard to find and may have a high value to someone with a ‘68 OEM disc car.

Dave, long time. How you been? So since I have drum brakes with these JA's, is the wheel going to sit further inbound to the car? If so, is this going to look funny and more importantly, possibly rub?

Evan I’ll drop off a JC (drum brake) wheel tomorrow and you can take measurements and/or try it on the car and compare offset. I think I remember your address?

Looking at this older thread:

tekheavy - did you have a chance to lay out the JA and JC wheels to determine their offsets?

I'm working on a '68 and have the same question now that you did in 2022. Need to know if the offsets of the two wheels are the same. Thanks.

A JA wheel does have slightly less negative offset than a JC rim. It is visible and most noticeable when trim ring is installed. With the same trim ring the JA wheel the trim ring is flush to the wheel hub while the JC wheel has a small gap. Not much, maybe a 1/4".
