Tom, when my brother's 69 TA was being restored about 10 years ago I stopped by the shop to check on it and I remember seeing a part number and date stamped on it. It has a 74 or 75 date, making it a replacement hood. When I saw it I thought to myself, we grew up all these years using the car as a daily driver to and from high school, [we were 16 when we got it] and I had never seen those numbers all these years. IIRC, it was located near the back of the hood on the bottom. I will ask him if he has any pics of it. Jeff

I have a 69 400 bird and a 69 T/A. Both have a number on the hood support facing straight down with the hood closed on the drivers side about a foot from the corner. Unfortunately, I can't make out either of the hoods what the numbers are.

Sent both pictures. Both date codes not part numbers. First picture is a 400 conv, 2nd picture is a 69 T/A.

Looks like 1st reads 11 26 8? could be as the car is and late 68 built car with all parts in the late Oct 68 area.

2nd, 69 T/A looks like 5A 29, assuming May 69 which also makes sense date wise.

From what I've found, the stamping date code on Hood Inner is the month only.
11 = Nov.
5 = May

The other numbers, letters pertain to the stamping plant.

Pictures show 11 26 B and 5 A 29. Which is Nov. 26th and May 29th. The letter is usually a line/stamping plant or shift designation. A second letter may indicate a continuation into the next model year.

Looking back......I knew of at least 5 in the Houston area. Some have probably changed hands and left the area. One was a RAIV auto TA missing the ram air pan. I can't recall the guys name that owned it at the time, but I sold him an original RAIV lower pan for it. This was long before the REPOP's came out....... A VERY RARE part for a one year only car. I got $2500 for it at the time and he was pleased as heck to get it and make his car totally original. In todays market it would be a $5000 part!
