tri-power still running a little rough

I've got a 67 GTO with a 428 tripower, 3 speed. I've tuned the engine but when I'm driving it and back off on the gas it tends to lurch a little bit until I get on the gas again. I'm told that it is because I've got the timing too far advanced but, I've retarded the timing and it still does it. Any ideas???
