Yep - that's cool. The location is not jumping out at me either.

Sorry, my Chevy-guy-ness is showing again.

A drag racing L79 Chevelle.

My Chevelle back in the day when it was a "real" car. I'm appalled seeing it that dirty! LOL!

Not sure what the previous owner was doing when these were taken, but it is partially disassembled. Can see some useful engine compartment details here.

Okay, these photos aren't vintage, but the car in question is.

This car is a bit of a time capsule. A high school classmate of mine died in a car accident during our senior year (1980, in someone else's car, four young men died in that accident). His family has kept his car just like he left it. His brother brought it out during our 30 year HS reunion. I got a ride in this legendary (for my home town) car. So very cool.

Donnie had stickers all over the car, so typical of the era.

The car has that 70s stance. Original paint, original interior.

Check out the 8-track deck. I wonder if that tape is the last one Donnie was playing the last time he drove his car?

Sad story but cool '66, Rich. That IS a time capsule.
I was in high school during the early 70's and we had similar tragedies of losing classmates in wrecks. Too many, actually.

Really cool timecapsule 66. Now a days guys restore cars to look like that and refer to it as a 'Day Two' car.

Yeah, I like it. I learned to drive and took my DL test in a '66...Not nearly as cool as that one though. The taillight lenses are from a Caprice though aren't they? Not knocking it, just a question/observation. Very cool car.

Was thinking we've seen this same exact pic several times in the past over the yrs...have you posted it previously under another screen name?
IIRC was also same description in the past also? Edit: I definitely recall the "B&M" lettering and the hood pipes...

Thx for posting.

I have posted in a couple of different threads in the past... Didn't go back and see if I had posted in this one before. I like to grab it because it was rare to see a 50's Pontiac on the strip.. My Dad worked at a Pontiac dealership at the time so was able to swing a B&M hydro his way back in the day.

I recall there was something significant going on, like a gathering of GM employees who were contemporary Corvette owners. You might recognize Bill Mitchell, head of GM Design at the time, standing behind the Sting Ray racer.

That is a great picture of Corvettes. There were some earlier ones of the original Grand Sport. Here is a few pics of the new 2017 Grand Sports available soon at your Chevy Dealer.
