Default Water pump plates

We just changed the water pump in my son's 65 Tempest, and I ran across something I hadn't seen before. The larger of the two water pump divider plates was cast aluminum, not stamped steel (pictured below along with the stamped steel version I'm familiar with). It had a GM part number cast on it.

Anyone know when these were used, and what applications?

Thanks,

Thank you! For some reason I can't get the search function to work on my phone.
