Starter Relay? Ignition coil?
Does a '71 400 (AT) use a starter relay? If so, where is it located, and who sells a replacement?
Also, is an AC Delco 505 coil good on these, or is there something better? Thanks as always. Still SMH at what that T/A fetched the other day on BaT.

No starter relays in'71 other than the solenoid mounted on top of the starter motor itself.

505 coil is fine for a std points car. Will easily do the job when hooked up with its correct resistor wire.

Thanks to you both. I was pretty sure these early 2G's never had a starter relay, but I was telling a GTO owner I know about the starting problems I was having and he swore they used them. Then again, he is in the cannabis biz (yes, really LOL).

Still working this out -- mostly new or newish starting components but the car loses current after startup, the battery is all but dead even though the alt gauge says 14. No gremlins like electrical gremlins, eh?
